Guest guest
selenium is fairly cheap you know! how much lugols have you been taking? iodine used to be THE treatment for hyperT--you can read about it at http://www.optimox.com click on research. maybe you need companion nutrients and a different dose of lugols. I'm hyperthyroid and after doing a lot of reading I think that it's because I've been taking Lugols for the last 18 months or so and am very likely deficient in Selenium. I've been reading this article http://www.greenwillowtree.com/Page.bok?file=selenium.iodine.html and feel that I've found my answer. I raced out and bought a bag of Brazil nuts because I'm not going to be able to get my usual range of supplements until after easter. Me being me I had 4 brazil nuts on Sunday and a raw fudge made with brazil nuts also that night and today - so quite a few nuts and possibly quite a bit of selenium. Today I've just felt horrid - everything is sore, my heart rate is up around 100 beats a minute when resting, my temperature is 37.8C and I've been crying since I left work this afternoon. What I realised at lunchtime is that two supps that I was taking have iodine in them so I won't be taking them for a couple of weeks at least. My question is anyone knows is how long should I wait after stopping iodine before I start the Selenium (I'll be starting slow!). I'd appreciate any help! Thanks, Sue. Guest guest
Dear Sue Are you under the care of a physician who knows about iodine? My concern would not be so much that you have heart rate of 100 bpm, although that is bothersome, but whether it’s associated with an arrhythmia. You need to get that looked at. Guest guest
This reads like you have been doing Lugals for 18 months but NOT using any selenium that whole time? If not selenium also not the other companion nutrients? Sounds like the issue might more be the iodine in absence of the companion nutrients. Brazil nuts although a good food source of selenium really don't provide that much, and not enough for this protocol. Also - how much iodine were you taking daily? Guest guest
I'm confused. You need to take iodine & selenium TOGETHER. If you were taking iodine without selenium, that could be contributing to your problems. And if you take selenium without iodine, that still won't get you sorted out. Or am I misreading this?AnneOn Apr 19, 2011, at 10:09 PM, wolesu wrote: Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me by answering some questions for me.
