Guest guest
Does Lugol's iodine protect against the radiation from Japan which is here in America. - People are recommending taking Potassium Iodide. Should we take more of that in addition to some Lugol's? Tammy
Guest guest
Potassium iodide will be the form absorbed by the thyroid but lugols or iodoral would include that and also help the rest of the body. Thyroid takes in 3% in the form of potassium iodide and the rest of the iodine is used by the rest of the body. Iodine or potassium iodide that you take in before you are exposed to radiation will keep your body from keeping that radioactive iodide. Prevention is the key. The typical advice for a single dose is pretty useless as excess or not ready for daily dose would be dumped from body and body would be short and eager to absorb radioactive iodine. 95% of us are short in iodine which makes the body hungry to absorb iodine from any source whether radioactive or not. Explaining this to my family was enough to get them to finally take iodine after I was talking about iodine for four years. One expert in UK estimated that 400,000 more cases of cancer in Japan from this based on Chernobyl exposures experience. Even robots are challenged by radiation. Doesn't look very fixable to me. http://youtu.be/fLE2nA-0TBUhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0H-mtsdsgg & NR=1 & feature=fvwp This one too. Even robots can not operate under these conditions... Much higher levels of destruction and radiation that they expected to deal with. They plan to use air to cool them since pipes are a wreck. There is a lot of money riding on the nuclear industry. Even now people 7-8 million live within the radius -400,000 expected to develop cancers based on Chernobyl results. They have downplayed the level of contamination which leads to more radiation exposures. They want to build 20 more nuclear plants here in US. There are nuclear plants within 50 miles of 65% of our population. The Japanese have 120,000 people still living in shelters. They are only being offered $9,000 per adult or $12,000 per family to relocate. Gives one pause to see what would happen here under similar experiences.
