You have a lot of bromide(over 10 is toxic) so you likely will need to get to 50-100 mg to make progress in actually getting the iodine in your cells. Sound like you are doing the process right with supplements and seasalt. At least you know where you are now and can keep fighting the bromide symptoms. I have been at 50mg for 4 years and after 3-4 months the lumps in my breasts disappeared. I have had few symptoms so would suggest adding a B complex to what you are taking and see if that helps detox. Another thing that helped me stay clear of detox symptoms was taking bentonite liquid when I didn't feel well. Maybe these 2 things will help you. Over the years, I have lost 92 pounds, cleared up liver and kidneys and got rid of 5 diseases of my 9 diseases so worth the effort. Ironically I never have tested since could see much change in body. Thanks for sharing. Pam

Hello

I am new to this group and have been reading the files and your discussions trying to educate myself. FT3 and FT4 and other tests indicate that I am hypothyroid, deficient in Vitamin D and have mild adrenal fatigue manifesting as an inappropriate E/P ratio. I decided that I would begin restoring my health by using TCM for adrenals and taking iodine.

With respect to iodine, I started slowly with 2 drops 2% Lugols and increasing the number of drops every few days. I also take:

6-800mg Mg citrate

3-4000mg Vit C

200mg selenium

Co-factors

½ tsp salt

6000IU of D

10000IU of A

krill oil

Vit K

I decided to do the iodine loading test with bromide and fluoride so I stopped the iodine for 3 days before doing the loading protocol. The results were:

72% iodine excretion/24hr (>90%)

41.7mg bromide / 24hr (<10mg/24hr); estimated serum: 83.4mg/L

5.19mg fluoride / 24hr (<1.9mg/24hr)

I would appreciate any feedback / suggestions about these results. It looks like I have picked up quite a bit of bromide over the years.

After the loading test, I restarted my daily dose at 25mg and have been increasing it by 1 drop per day. Last week after receiving the test results, I decided to try painting my thyroid with 2% Lugols. After 3 days of topical application, I started to come down with virus /detox symptoms? The symptoms are similar to those I have when I catch the flu but it is lingering and there has been no sore throat. The first couple of days, I experienced feeling very hot and then shivering or both at the same time. That has eased off but I am very sluggish and don't seem to be recovering as quickly as I usually do. My asthma has returned after not requiring any medication for over a year. When I first started iodine dosing, I felt I was breathing deeper even though asthma has not been an issue for a long time. After a 3 day rest from iodine, I restarted iodine dosing but not painting my thyroid. I have increased the salt loading to 2-3 times a day. The flu symptoms (catarrhal cough, blocked nose and intermittent headaches, no energy) are persisting.

Could this be detoxing triggered by me painting my thyroid or is it just another virus? Does detox sometimes resemble colds/flu? I thought that when I restarted the iodine (18 drops/day = ~40mg), and if it was a virus/bacteria, it would aid in my recovery. Any thoughts? Should I up to 50mg or back off? While I am committed to decreasing bromide and fluoride I have to be able to function!

Thank you to everyone for sharing your knowledge and being willing to help a newbie.

Hi Gerry, I would like to understand what are you saying by:

' mild adrenal fatigue manifesting as an inappropriate E/P ratio' ...What do you mean by E/P ratio?

Thank you,

Graciela

Hi Graciela

sorry! I got the ratio around the wrong way. It should have been the P/E ratio.

I am not an expert but evidently the ratio of progesterone to estradiol is

something we need to keep an eye on. If it is not in the correct range, then

the individual values are looked at to see which one should be increased to

improve the ratio. In my case, it was suggested that I increase progesterone.

There is a group for Adrenal hormones.
