Guest guest
Greetings, Has anyone had any experience with muscle weakness (numbness) in the initial stages of Iodine supplementation? I started very low dose with the intention of doubling every month, (I have had some hyperthyroid symptoms in the past and want to proceed cautiously), so with just one 225 mcg kelp tablet, the symptoms appear. They weakness is only on the right side...can be the calf or thigh or arm or both. It actually seems to float sometimes in the arm, sometimes the leg. I have run many days of experiments. Take the iodine and the symptoms appear. Stop taking it and they go away. I switched over to a supplement with iodine 5 mg as molecular, 5 mg as sodium iodide, and 2.5 mg as potassium iodide thinking kelp contaminants might have something to do with it but the exact same symptoms appear. (I split the 12.5 mg capsule into small doses, around 600mcg each). I wonder about some kind of mercury chelation or other heavy metal triggered by the iodine- not that iodine would do this directly. I've also thought that a neurological condition might possibly be aggravated by iodine, MS, ALS? Any thoughts about this are much appreciated.
