Guest guest
Maybe this would help daughter with next child. I understand from my doctor who just had a baby that women can have the placenta freeze dried and then take it as supplement as it is full of the hormones and vitamins that your body made for you. That is why in the animal kingdom, the mother eats up the placenta. Likely there would be no post partum depression if that was done. Anyways not something everyone would be interested in doing. I don't have to worry about that as my kids are grown. Guest guest
it is easier to check thyroid and probably add bio-identical progesterone. http://www.drhotze.com/Resource-Library/Videos.aspx?Page=2 On Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 8:21 PM, Pamela Valley <2007pams@...> wrote: Maybe this would help daughter with next child. Guest guest
I understand that you are suggesting progesterone for my daughter. However, I don't know why, but I have personally tried progesterone three times in 20 years, three different times that were years apart, and it gave me the worst depression each time. I am afraid of it now. It was too bad too, as I did notice that it made me very calm, but each time within three days I was in a full biochemical depression. Guest guest
Re your question about types of iodine, it depends on where you shop.Drugstore iodine is generally the tincture form, which is for topical use only, & must not be ingested. She needs to be clear on that. Some health food stores carry Lugol's solution, in liquid form -- which is the product some of our members use. Some health food stores carry Iodoral -- the pills which some of our members use. There are other forms of iodine -- mostly microgram doses -- available, but they do not provide enough iodine. (We would have to see the info on the labels to see how they compare.)AnneOn Apr 17, 2011, at 7:16 AM, Love Petz wrote: Hi, I have been telling my daughter about the iodine, since she had bad PPDepression after her baby. Guest guest
Love-- I can't answer all your questions, but I will address what I know. Also, you might have more responses if you break up your questions and just put one or two in each email. It can be overwhelming to try to answer a large number of questions all at once, and that can mean an email that people meant to get back to, gets lost in the shuffle. > Is there any difference between the type in the stores and the two > types recommended here? Usually what is available in stores is very weak compared to what is recommended here. Sometimes, however, Lugol's is available in regular drug stores. >******************************************* >I am up to 50mgs of the lugols drops and have been at that dose for a >month. I feel fine, nothing better I don't think, but no problems. >(actually I have been on the iodine for more then two months, but slowly >raised it.) Many people don't show detox symptoms until they go over 50mg. If you haven't encountered anything yet, you should raise your dose more. That is, if you want to detox bromides from your body and let the iodine return to the cells. >Is there any way to tell that iodine is helping? >What should I expect as time goes on? Frequently people have more energy but don't realize it's the iodine. But as I said, 50mg is just a guideline. A significant number of people need to go higher than that to get things moving. > So I am thinking of getting off it completely to see if the iodine can > sustain my thyroid. Not a good idea. Most people never are able to get off the thyroid hormone, but they feel a lot better than they did. Unless you are going into hypErthryroid symptoms, which would be a sign that you are getting too much thyroid hormone, it's not time to reduce or quit. > Westhroid is like Armour. So I am on one grain I think. >Someone once stated that at this low dose it might be just suppressing my >thyroid and keeping me low. Whoever said that is misinformed. Thyroid hormone does not " suppress " the thyroid. If you need thyroid hormone and your body is either not producing it or you have autoimmune antibodies that prevent the body from using it, then you need replacement hormones. Yes, everyone would like to get off thyroid hormones, but in fact many cannot. Getting your thyroid hormone at the correct dose, so that you can feel good, would be my priority, and in fact I got my thy hormone up to the proper level after I started iodine and I feel pretty great most of the time, considering I've got fibromyalgia and Hashi's. I've lost 35 pounds over the last 15 months. So, you may be at too low a dose (I'm at 3 grains), but this " suppression " theory is bogus. It's certainly a way for people to lose what little health they have. > So I am not sure what else to do. >I would love to hear people's suggestions about this and it iodine alone >can sustain my thyroid? See above. with best wishes, -- ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Muste
