Bromide levels over 10 are considered to be toxic. So you can safely assume with a number that is double the upper limit that you have an issue. Also this means that the 73% saturation level is artificially elevated and is lower. You will need to start supplementing with iodine at higher doses (50 mgs and up is usually where progress begins) to affectively address this.

With a BC history it is not unusual to see toxicity with bromide - it is almost expected. Your symptoms at low doses also indicated a high level of toxicity.

As for the thyroid medication. Many do not do well on Synthroid. It keeps them in an under treated thyroid stated because if you look at the free T3 levels (active hormone) they will be very low in the range while TSH and FT4 appear to be fine. This is a common problem. Dessicated thryodi works better for most. I was on Synthroid for 6 years and "deemed great" but I wasn't. Just 4 days on Armour made the lights come on in my brain and removed the aching in my joins.

Need help to interpret results (re-post)

I posted this a couple of days ago but never received a response:I just received my results from Hakala:24 hr excretion: 36.5% excretion 24 hr: 73%Bromide: 20.2mgFluoride: 1.14mgWhat is good here, what is bad, and what do I do about it?I have been on usually 2 drops of 2% Lugol's for about a year (except for before the test). When I've increased it my insomnia problem gets much worse. I am "controlled" on Synthyroid but have an appointment next week to see about switching to natural thyroid. I had BC a year ago and have been cleaning up my diet, etc, including our water filter system has fluoride filters.I am on all supporting nutrients (+ many more supplements, especially for the BC) and use Himalayan salt.

Thanks for the help. I see my Dr. (DO) about switching to Armour this week.

So I just keep trying to gradually up my iodine intake what I can considering

the insomnia problem and between that and getting adjusted on Armour I get

better? I'm liberally using Himalayan salt. I don't think I could drink it

straight in water, as when I've even tried to gargle with it (my dh's remedy for

a sore throat), I gag. As I can get the iodine up, that fixes the bromide

problem? Did I have a fluoride problem or anything else that stands out in the

results?

Thanks,

,Did you read 's post? She is giving you clear information that you need more iodine that you are toxic in bromide with twice the limit and that your saturation level is artificially up because of the bromide blocking your receptors. You will need to do 50-100 mg to change things.  Pam

You talk about salt -need half tsp to tsp daily so add that to your food. Are you doing 2000-5000 of Vitamin C, 400 mg of magnesium and 200 mcg of selenium? With your toxic reactions, you may find that a B complex helps you detox. Both flouride and bromide are hallides that will block your body from using the iodine which means you will need more iodine to get past that stage and persistence. You will need to take more iodine daily to get past that. Insomnia could be from not enough magnesium or not useful thyroid medicine. I was on synthetic crap for 6 years and didn't see any difference until Armour. Pam

Some actually do this and it works fine. It does not matter if you

put it in the capsule as the capsules dissolve in the water and

stomach acid. I have been contemplating doing this for my daughter

who won't take it.... But you do need to drink a lot with it.

Take the salt in capsules, 2 a day with a glass of water, more for salt

loading. Don't go without the recommended salt(1/2 tsp)in protocol just because

you can't drink saltwater. Neither can I.

thanks for all the help from everybody.

yes, I'm taking the companion nutrients (plus many more, due to BC a year ago).

I have recently ordered liquid magnesium which may be a better form and I will

make sure I take plenty of it.

So taking plenty of the salt (the idea of getting it down in capsules should

work!) will help the insomnia I get when I try to raise my iodine? Would taking

the salt before bed be more effective than in the morning since this is the main

ill effect I have from raising the iodine?

Is there any thing to remark on on my Fluoride reading?

Boy, I hope I get the good results mentions with regard to joints. I

have osteoarthritis like an 80 yr old.

As I said, I see my D.O. this Thursday about the switch from Synthyroid to

Armor.

Thanks,
