Guest guest
Armour thyroid is not considered a "glandular". It is a pharmaceutical product made from pig thyroid glands - more specifically desiccated thyroid. There is no gland tissue in the product. It is used for those that are hypothyroid or people like myself who have had their thyroid removed. It replaces the thyroid hormone not being made by the body. I would die w/o it. It is not given to hyperthyroid people as that would cause them to die - too much thyroid hormone can create a cardiac issue. Hyperthyroidism is treated with anti-thryoid drugs or natural products like L-Carnatine, Lithium and Iodine. Dr. Brownstein uses Nature-throid now that Forest changed their formula for Armour. He had too many patients react negatively. We have seen the same issue on the thyroid boards. Helping to support the thyroid naturally includes nutrients that are listed on my website www.naturalthyroidchoices.com glandular (Armour Thyroid) Hi everyone,I keep hearing from health practitioners different views, and reading conflicting info on glandular thyroid and what it does. Does it just nourish a thyroid and help it balance out? or does it stimulate it and cause a slighly high thyroid to become overactive? or a subclinical hypothyroid to become hyper. I have read and heard both so it is confusing. I think Dr. Brownstein gives Armour to hypo and hyper thyroid patient's doesn't he?Sorry for so many questions! just wanted to hear if anyone had any knowledge or experience with this. Thanks.Corry
