Guest guest
Just wondering if anyone could give some thoughts on these labs, I am waiting on a doctors data iodine kit(my doc recommended). I don't take any meds yet but have some hypothyroid symptoms. Thanks in advance. Would appreciate any thoughts on what supps, I can start also. Still having hair loss issues, my hair is very thin now, have mercury fillings still. TSH- 1.76 (.4-4.5) T4 Total 10.3 (4.5-12.0) FREE T3 3.2 (2.3-4.2) Reverse T3 30 (11-32) Vit. D Low 29 (30-100) Ferritin 32 (10-154) Fibrinogen 338 Alpha II Antiplasmin 131 Protein C Activity 146 Protein S acttivity 74 Lipoprotein 54 J. PS- Background is, I took a product in Aug,(when hair loss started) called thyro-balance(has iodine in it) and was using selenium too. I did not know the iodine protocol then. Guest guest
I have a question for our experts about Bridgett's labs: If she has Hashi's, and her saturation result is 103%, would you suspect halide toxicity? > > I just got the results back from my iodine overload test. Guest guest
Your vitamin D3 is pretty low. 60-80 is the recommended range by 15 researchers in the vitamin D counsil. That would prevent 8 types of cancer and MS and possibly RA. I was at 13 which is bottom 1%, 4 years ago and just finally got to 59 by taking 10,000 a day at my dr insistence. That or a weekly shot. Ferritin is pretty low which must make sleep iffy and low energy during the day. Standard Process Ferrofood tends to help me with that. Your reverse T3 may indicate that you need to support your liver. DMG, TMG and the metagenics ultra ph shake and advaclear capsules helped me to heal my liver enzymes. They were sky high 4 years ago from blockage and 2 surgeries to fix that. Left my liver crabby. Now my liver is totally healthy which healed up gout completely. When it was worse gave me dizziness ten times a day, yellow skin and eyes and just stopped eating. Not fun then it was swollen and pushing my ribs out of place for couple of years. Not fun either. Sick liver also added 45 pounds. Now I am 93 pounds lighter and HS weight again. Hope this helps. PamRanges on last 5 tests may help someone give ideas for those. On Fri, Apr 15, 2011 at 7:25 AM, laura19982005 <laura19982005@...> wrote: Just wondering if anyone could give some thoughts on these labs, I am waiting on a doctors data iodine kit(my doc recommended). Guest guest
Spot tests are a measurement of iodine intake over the past 48 hours. It says nothing about saturation levels in the body. Guest guest
I am original poster and I do not take thyroid meds. This was the first time, I could get someone to run a FREE T3. I had a CBC last April, no anemia. She did not run an iron panel tho. I have had terrible hair loss and am looking to fix it. Now I am confused. > > > > > > > > > > Just wondering if anyone could give some thoughts on these labs, I > > > > > am waiting on a doctors data iodine kit(my doc recommended). Guest guest
I'm confused, then. I thought Bridgett was talking about two different tests, a spot test and a saturation test. She said: " I have not had the consult with the doctor yet, but was wondering what the significance of a low iodine spot test and 103% saturation result is? " But then, I suppose a saturation test probably couldn't have a result over 100%. I'm mystified. > > > > I just got the results back from my iodine overload test. Guest guest
I have another problem, I've had two practitioners now(in 3 mos) who have not helped me. The newest one will not run an iron panel, said last years CBC was perfect(no iron level). So she said take 1 iron pill per day(for low ferritin), any brand. My hair is falling out terribly and it's ruining my life. I've just gotten two menstrual periods 12 days apart(36 years old), this has happened 3 times in 6 mos. If anyone has thoughts or can recommend a doctor who will HELP me, please email me off list. Thanks so much, > > > > > > > > > > Just wondering if anyone could give some thoughts on these labs, I > > > > > am waiting on a doctors data iodine kit(my doc recommended). Guest guest
Hi Rhonda,If he is taking thyroid replacement, it is important when the blood test takes place. My doctor's office is finding the most accurate results when taken 6-12 hours after the last thyroid dose. I had been getting them about 26 hours after and my results were skewed. Any earlier than 6 hours can also give you skewed results. I would definitely be starting on a decent dosage of Vitamin D3 if those were my test results. But he will have to decide that for himself. in Alaska On Mon, Jan 23, 2012 at 7:24 AM, Harman Family <mr3cm@...> wrote: I have tried to educate myself on thyroid labs, but it remains very confusing to me. Our son is in college and takes (I think) 60mg (the dr. keeps reducing—had been 120, then 90) of thyroid med—was on Armour, but just switched to locally compounded. This is what his latest labs looked like: TSH 0.33 0.40-4.50 B12 438 200-1100 Ferritin 69 20-345 Iron, Total 166 45-175 Iron Binding 353 250-425 % saturation 47 20-50% Vitamin D 14 30-100 T-4 Total 5.7 4.5-12.0 (I requested free T-4, but they only ran total) T-3, Free 4.4 2.3-4.2 I would really appreciate any insights. He tried taking 2 thyroid pills a couple of days ago (rather than 1) and said the day after doing that he felt really good. Thanks in advance for any help, Rhonda
