Guest guest
" Several human organs need iodine but can not absorb it until blood iodine levels reach high values (stomach, salivary glands). Most persons exhibit impaired production of stomach acid as they age. This impaired capability to produce adequate stomach acid may be a result of iodine deficiency as iodine promotes stomach acidity. Guest guest
Great article – thanks for sharing. Questions from a novice(me): In the article it states “An accurate test for diagnosing iodine deficiency exists. Dr. Jay Abrahams has developed a loading test to settle this issue. The patient takes 4 iodine tablets (12.5 mg each). If there is sufficient iodine in the individual the excess iodine is excreted in the urine in the next 24 hours. If iodine is lacking the body retains most of the iodine with little iodine appearing in the urine”1. How does one take such a urine test? Must it be order by an MD?2. Is it safe to load an individual like my 20 yr old daughter. She has Hashimoto’s, adrenal fatigue, low iron, on an anti-fungal and gluten free diet, and was recently diagnosed with papillary carcinoma3. Do you know of a doctor in the NY,NJ,PA , MD area that is knowledgeable in the use of iodine as well as the above medical issues? I am searching for a new endocrinologist as well. Thanks very much!Luci From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of z100a2002Sent: Friday, April 15, 2011 1:03 AMiodine Subject: moy enough iodine the cause of lack of acid in the stomach " Several human organs need iodine but can not absorb it until blood iodine levels reach high values (stomach, salivary glands).
