Guest guest
Hi Pamela, thanks for the update. This makes no sense to me, though, because I keep hearing about very high radiation levels in Japan and at least one reactor is leaking radiation.Any idea what this means? (You can also just click on the map and drag it to the right until Japan appears.) And somebody is monitoring and reporting levels from Tokyo. Tokyo's levels are lower than many background levels in the USA. Guest guest
Could be that wind was blowing not towards Tokyo at the time of the measurement. Best wishes nil Re: Radiation map with Japan on it Hi Pamela, thanks for the update. Guest guest
Well, the monitoring station is near Tokyo. The radiation is coming from an area north and slightly east of Tokyo. For the most part, prevailing wind patterns are west to east, so most radiation would not pass through Tokyo and would, instead, be blown out over the Pacific. There have been a few periods where wind direction changed and radiation levels in Tokyo elevated briefly before returning to normal. They have noted radiation in milk, water and spinach in Japan.
