Guest guest
Hello, Everyone: I have been taking iodine for over two years now. I had some recent labs and have posted them both on the NTH and adrenals forums and did not get any answers. It seems people do not read the post and then ask questions where the information is contained in the original post i.e. what are your labs etc. I've also received " advice " that I believe is erroneous such as to stop taking iodine as it stresses the adrenals. At this point I am VERY frustrated and need some help/advice as I know there are a lot of intelligent people here. So, I'm going to provide what I believe is the necessary information so I can get some answers. I had previously taken dessicated thyroid, but every time I increased I felt worse (I know realize it was adrenals). New idiot doctor switched me back to Levoxyl (brand) in combination with a small dose of dessicated thyroid (his idiotic belief which I bought at the time was that dessicated has too much T3 in it). Labs in December 2010 when I was taking only 100 mg Levoxyl: Iron 149 (range 28-170) Ferritin 104 (range 11-306) Selenium 111 (range 23-190) TSH .04 (range .28-3.89) Free T4 1.24 (range .58-1.64) Free T3 was not done in error and total T3 was done which I won't bother to post. I had my labs repeated on 2/28/11 when I was taking 100 mg Levoxyl and 5 mg dessicated thyroid. Here are these results: > TSH .41 (.28-3.89) > Free T4 .96 (.58-1.64) > Free T3 2.4 (2.5-3.9) > Thyroglobulin Ab 65 (<40) > Thyroid Peroxidase AB 190 (30-100)--this value has doubled since 6/2010 > Here are my cortisol levels > > morning 10.7 (7.0-10) > midday 5.0 (3.0-6.0) > evening 3.4 (2.0-4.0) > night 5.8 (<1.5) > DHEA 144.8 (33-496.1)--I was told this was too high?? I am NOT taking DHEA, but 7-keto dhea which is not the same thing and as far as I know doesn't convert like DHEA does. > I was taking ashwaghanda, but did not take on the day of the test. The adrenal forum told me my results weren't accurate because I took ashwaghanda the day before. They suggested I retest, but I don't have health insurance at this point and am unemployed/an acupuncture student. > After doing some more reading (Dr. 's book and STTM), I am not sure if I should be taking Isocort before I try to work my way up to 3 grains of compounded thyroid. I have been taking ashwaghanda for almost one year which seems to have helped. I also had NAET treatments (Nambudripad' s allergy elimination techniques) which helped my thyroid and adrenals and ability to tolerate iodine. I just restarted on licorice root this past week and resumed taking my temperatures, but I realized I wasn't taking them correctly. > > One last thing, these are my current supplements: > Iodoral 50 mg/day > ATP cofactors 1 tablet day > 1/2 ++ tsp/day Celtic sea salt as well as salting food > organic Brazil nuts (3 day for selenium) > Pure Encapsulations liver/GI detox--this is replacing NAC > Pure encapsulations liquid Vit D3 3000 IU > Co-Q Quinol 1/4 tsp== 52 mg CoQ10 > supplements for acetylcholine, GABA, dopamine and 5 HTP. > licorice root 350 mg 3 x's day > Vit C from rosehip powder 2 tsp day 3X's day(not sure of the equivalency in milligrams) > 7 keto DHEA 25 mg/day > Vit E (unique E brand--mixed tocopherols) 400 IU/day 2 X's day > Pure encapsulations B6 complex 1 in AM > The files in the adrenal forum seem to suggest that it's not a good idea to take RX or glandulars for adrenal fatigue unless you are very severely fatigued. So, to summarize my questions: Why would my labs get worse after taking the small amount of dessicated thyroid? In changing over to all compounded thyroid, should I split the starting 1 grain dosage to 1/2 in AM and 1/2 in PM or just take 1 grain in AM? Should I just continue with my adrenal supportive herbs (ashwaghanda and licorice root) or should I add Isocort? > > Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. > > Laurie
Guest guest
That is why I read every post so people are repeating themselves 100 times. I don;t mean to come across harsh it is just something I have noticed. from IllinoisFrom: koonk <dalilah61@...>iodine Sent: Sat, March 19, 2011 9:20:38 AMSubject: need help/advice--have labs--?
