HELP! I am new to the list.  I have a 15mod with Down syndrome and was recently told she is trending towards hypothyroidism.  When I was reading about Down syndrome I read somewhere on the www that some are using iodine supplementation.  Then a friend of mine brought it to my attention again as she says iodine helps with thyroid issues.  I have NO real knowledge about this issue but am wondering if there is anyone who has walked through this before and might be able to point me to some info or books.  Have they seen benefits... how do you decide on dosage amounts, where do you purchase, are drs fairly open about this?

If you respond to the list I would also really appreciate a private email sent to me as well.  I am a homeschooling mom of 11 who also works part time driving school bus for health insurance.  I don't want to miss anyone's response.  cindylmccarthy@...

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the list. There is an excellent book which is recommended by the list owner, it is called " Iodine: what it does and why everyone needs it " by Dr. Brownstein. It will tell you everything you need to know about dosage, how it works, etc. Maybe someone else on the list knows more info about dosage and so forth.
