radiation protection from x-rays

Hi Folks,

Does iodine protect one from x-rays? I stated that it does on another forum and

someone is it only protects one from isotope radiation (not that I know the

difference). Am I wrong? I would love a link or at least the correct

information.

No not in the manner you are thinking about. It does protect against I-131 radiation. It is also used in the process of apoptosis which is programmed cell death of abnormal cells. But it does not *protect* you from things like dental x-rays, etc.
