Guest guest
Wow, that's great. Where are you located (what sd)? Are you the sped parent rep (per se) or is this a separate group of sped parents from PTA? just wondering, I have been going to our PTA and it seems they are oblivious to needs (though we're rural and our sd doesn't recognize having any sped kids except for my one -my other who EVERYONE is aware of I pulled due to their incompetence w/him). Anyway, these are good ideas! What about a lunch buddies group for socialization? or any specific items the IS/Sped teachers might need that are above the norm? perhaps in phys ed, music or art? I like the idea of aiding at extra curricular? Unfortunately all these would get tossed in our group, esp by the principal. Good luck, Jackie
Guest guest
I'm in Hudson and they have a high % of kids on IEPs - especially for a small town. I'm not the parent mentor but I'm getting her involved because she is really great. I've got the president of our PTA backing me and letting me run with it so I'm going to start trying to get some parents, teachers, and therapists to help me put together a good subcommittee. I like your ideas - especially the lunch buddies. I will add all your ideas to my list. Thanks!
