Hi,

I take 2 grains of naturethroid spaced throughout the day and am doing fairly well. The pharmacist said an unusual thing to me though. As I was picking up my prescription, she said, "You look like you have a goiter." This pharmacist is one sharp lady and has given me fantastic advice over the past few years, better than doctors. That comment left me speechless though! The pharmacy was busy, and I didn't have a chance to ask her if she had any suggestions the day she made the comment.

The doctor hasn't said anything about a goiter. I had RAI in 2005, and don't really want to mention this to my new doctor. She's nice and seems knowledgeable, but I'm a bit afraid of saying anything regarding thyroid or thyroid meds to any doctor.

Sorry for the rambling. Here are my questions. Does iodine help reduce or get rid of a goiter, if I have one? If I don't have one, will it cause problems if I add lugols or iodoral to the 2 grains of NTH? It's taken me five years (and as many doctors) to get to a place where I feel well, and if adding the iodine might cause problems, I'm not sure I want to add it in. Are you supposed to have labs done before adding iodine? If I have a goiter, does that mean I'm not on enough NTH? Thank you for your help. I appreciate it!
