Greetings

I just joined the group because I am dealing with possible thyroid cancer. I

have some nodules. They are concerned because I was given radiation for acne

about 40 years ago. I did not have a biopsy but certain blood test markers came

out positive. The really good news is though that since July, the one test,

which is not considered diagnostic but used off label to indicate cancerous

nodules, now here in December came back normal. I have been cutting out sugar

and trying to follow an alkaline diet.

I have had the iodine sufficiency test and told to take 4 Iodoral for the rest

of my life. I am taking 2 right now. It seems that when I take iodine, my body

temperature gets even lower. The basal temp right now is about 96.3 It has been

as low as 95. They put me on thyroid replacement (Nature Throid 1 grain, and

Cytomel 5 mcg)

I read in the files that the thyroid replacement depletes iodine from the

thyroid. Is taking the iodine doing me any good in that case? Or is that a case

for taking even more to make up for the effect the drugs have?

Also, my thyroglobulin levels were tested and they came out high. I still have

my thyroid but wondered if the iodine makes the thyroglobulin go up.

In spite of going to 3-4 alternative/integrative doctors, nobody in my area is

really knowledgeable so I am trying to collect the information myself.

Thanks for your help,

Lilly
