Guest guest
Our next Greater Cleveland Asperger Support meeting on Wednesday, September 10, is sure to leave us feeling empowered to advocate for our kids as another school year begins. Barb Rutt, Information Specialist, with the Ohio Coalition of Children with Disabilities, will speak on special education services, evaluations and IEP's with a focus on the issues affecting kids with Asperger's and other autistic spectrum disorders. What if the school says that my child is too intelligent to qualify for services? Does my son's teachers have a right to discipline him in a way that I know will exacerbate his condition? My daughter needs help relating to her peers, yet her teachers say her social skills are fine. Barb will try to answer as many general questions as she can following her presentation, but asks that questions about personal situations be e-mailed to her so she can consult with you directly: ocecdbrsbcglobal (DOT) net Don't miss this important meeting: Wednesday, September 10, 7 p.m., at the Independence Civic Center, 6363 Selig Drive, Independence.
