Guest guest
Hi everyone...I hope that everyone had a great summer. I was wondering if anyone has experienced home schooling with their child????? If so, what program did you pick and why? I just started doing research on it and I could not believe how many are out there. I even saw programs geared for our autistic son. I just don't know much about them but I'm willing to hear anyone's advice. I'm considering it an option for my son next year as he will be entering 6th grade(middle school). Thanks,
Guest guest
, I have homeschooled for about 13 years now. My oldest (17yr) has Asperger's and I also have a child with RAD...as well as 3 other kids. If you have specific questions I'd be happy to answer them either through email or a phone call. I've used many different publishers, some successfully, some not so much....but I've enjoyed the journey so far and it has been a good choice for our family. Currently, two of our five are in public school...so I've also navigated that route some too. Feel free to contact me for more info if you'd like. Guest guest
, There's good comprehensive books for homeschooling you can borrow from our CCPL library. Cuyahoga County Public Library do a search "homeschooling" and you'll find a good list. Guest guest
Hi, . I have homeschooled all but two of my older son's 5 years - he is a fifth grader this year. The last time I pulled him out it was mid-year. I was fed up. Now, we are doing the autism scholarship on him. He is still getting his academic and social needs met at home and with his homeschool friends and his autistic needs met by state approved but very good therapists. I cannot begin to describe the difference in him - the self-confidence - the normalcy. He is able to interact with a broad range of ages, and the kids he is around are used to differences, and he is accepted. I also school his siblings, a 4th grader and a 1st grader, while taking care of a 2 year old. It is possible, LOL. Anyway, I just took the local school curriculum - bought my textbooks used and my workbooks new. We participate in the community for gym (hiking sprees; gymnastics; official gym programs), art (2 different free programs plus a paid class), recess (playdates where the kids get to spend hours interacting versus minutes), and music (piano lessons). > > Hi everyone...I hope that everyone had a great summer.
