Regarding the question: He is 4.8 years, with his tests at school (MFE ETC...) he is at a 2 yr old level plus he cant stay on one thing for too long.......

There is so much you can do to aide you're child's development and there are several options that you can try:

Occupational Therapy:

A good Occupational therapist can help with your son's developmental delays or you could try several other types of therapies that focus on development through play. They can do a full assessment of where your child's level is or you can bring the MFE to a therapist and they can develop an agenda to further your child's development. OT is very helpful. As in our case, I took my son to Barrie Galvin & associates for developmental therapy and I also learned floor-time (Greenspan) which I did several times a day with my son. Alot of children make good progress with therapies that focus on their abilities and expand from that point.

About floor-time,

Floor-time is a good way to begin but you'll need some education on how to do floor-time. Basically; floor-time is following your child's lead and mimicking what they do, it helps to expand play on one item and initiates turn taking and social development during play. (This is vital to a child's developmental ability in school.) Barrie Galvin & Associates has floor-time seminars which are very good, they are only about 2 hours an evening for about 3 days. Usually, 2 hours on a certain weeknight for 3 weeks. (for example: Mon 7-9pm, 3 weeks in a row.) - not sure when the next session or what night for the next series. There are also other places that offer workshops on the subject of development through play or you might find some by search engine.

Here is the website for the Galvin Education Resource Center for Families. This site has very good resources and recommended books. See also the link at the bottom for the Floor-time series information page. GERCF - Home

Best of wishes and if you need further info or support let us know!
