Columbus Walk Now for Autism Sunday, October 12, 2008 Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on The Ohio State University campus ---------- Forwarded message ----------From: Kim Niederst <kniederst@...>Date: Wed, Apr 16, 2008 at 4:10 PM Subject: Columbus Walk Now for Autism Planning Update 1Kim Niederst <kniederst@...> Dear Friends – Thank you all for your interest in the inaugural Columbus Walk Now for Autism event! We are very proud to announce the Walk will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on The Ohio State University campus. E. Gordon Gee, President of The Ohio State University will serve as the Honorary Chairperson of the event. On Thursday, April 10 we held a meeting to kick-off the Walk planning process and recruit planning committee members. Special thanks to all of you who were able to attend. We enjoyed meeting you and look forward to working with you this year. For those who were unable to join us, please find the committee member job description and Columbus Walk Committee descriptions attached to this message. We are asking everyone to form a team for the Walk and choose a committee in which to contribute their time and talents. Our dedicated volunteer executive committee members are leading these focused groups to further advance the Walk planning process. Also attached to this message is our Walk timeline. As you can see, we have a six month planning period. A tight schedule, but with the commitment and dedication of this group, we know we can do it! The first order of business is to begin to promote the Walk. We have Save the Date materials and general Walk brochures available for you to distribute. Word of mouth is the number one method of recruitment for Walk Now for Autism. Please take these materials to your school, therapy provider, support group, pediatrician, and any others you feel would want to get involved in the Walk and learn more about Autism Speaks. Please email us at columbus@... with your committee of choice and any materials you may need. We are working to launch the Columbus Walk website and will let you know as soon as this is up and running so you can begin to register your team for the Walk. At any time, please feel free to contact us with your questions, comments or suggestions. We can be reached through Kim Niederst, our Autism Speaks Walk Director. Her contact information is listed below. We look forward to working with you to change the future for all living with autism spectrum disorders in Central Ohio!
