Guest guest
Being that biomedical has helped my son I thought I could share some thoughts. There could be an imbalance in your son's biochemistry that is causing this symptom of spitting (I've heard of this before). If you're son isn't already using supplements you could try a supplement of Zinc (I use chelated zinc try a low dose of 10mg to start with. If you can't find zinc in 10mg split a larger dose in half at first.) and then add more if needed over time. Zinc is also good for the immune system and helps fight off colds, so if anything it could help with viruses if not spitting too. Vitamins and minerals can help reduce behavioral symptoms in some children. Another good tip is if a child is pressing their eyes alot, they need more calcium and can benefit from a calcium supplement. ~ this I have valid experience with as my son was pressing his eyes several days in a row. gave me the tip to give him a calcium supplement and he's never pressed his eyes since. I have links for the biomedical group listed on the groups info footers which is at the bottom of group email see additional info, if you'd like to check into the biomedical group and see other group information Yours, n In a message dated 12/8/08 6:10:53 PM Eastern Standard Time, dulock13@... writes: I, too, am new to this board, and my 4-year-old son was diagnosed with Asperger's in August. He's very advanced from an academic perspective, but the biggest problem is that he continues to spit/blow raspberries in other children's faces -- despite so many conversations and time-outs. If he could just stop doing this, he would do so much better in school. He has been kicked out of 3 pre-schools since May, and this is the biggest reason because it is disrespectful of the other kids and exasperates the teachers. Has anyone else had a similar problem that has some ideas we can try? I want to try some oral-motor sensory processing ideas, but all of the ones I have are "fun" and I'm afraid he will see them as a reward. Any ideas are welcome.
