If you think Palin will help our special needs children ...think again... This is from a family in Alaska who is fighting for their special needs child's rights as we speak. Please read and share. Children with Autism in Alaska Need Comprehensive School and Home Services Olson hasn't seen her son except one time in the last year. The reason? is in out of state placement in Texas. Why? Because , who is now 17, has severe autism, and he is now in a school/24 hour care program in Texas. Why is in Texas? Because there isn't a program for him here in Alaska. Prior to being sent out of state, tried her best to find a program up here in Alaska that would meet his needs. After seriously deteriorated, she had no choice but to send him out. Olson v. Palin was filed last summer and is pending in Superior Court in Anchorage. Here is a link to a copy of the First Amended Complaint. Please note that Palin was named in her official capacity only as the governor of Alaska. With Palin's elevation to the vice presidential nominee for the Republican party, we are posting this information to respond to numerous calls about same. Notably, the State of Alaska has confirmed in two different studies, the lack of appropriate educational and other services for children with autism in Alaska.
