Guest guest
, I can totally relate. My son is 12 and has Asperger's and ADHD. It has been a constant struggle. We make one step forward and two steps back. We have had good help and resources from this group and from others. If you wish to email me I can share things specific to you, or you can ask this group for their resource lists again. My son is also very intelligent, high functioning, but non productive and distracting. We work with him, the teachers do for a while, he is in a special school and declining at the moment. Very frustrating. He doesn't know why either. He tries but "no one is happy with him" so he feels. He has been on and off medicine which helped temporarily and minimally. Some days are better than most. We as the adults need to look at the whole picture, not the individual actions. We need to stay calm, talk to others, follow up on resources and love our child. Easier said then done, but it's the right thing to do. Can I ask how he got on the Medicaid waiver? Carol McCain or Obama? Guest guest
Carol -- You just described my son. We had an IEP meeting this morning. They are reevaluating him. (New tests) We did request an one on one aide for him. We find out the results November 5th. He gets Medicaid because he is on SSI. Although even if he wasn't on SSI, we fall under the income amount for Healthy Families coverage. Today is day two of no medication. Yesterday he got detention for disrupting class, but the teacher said this morning that it seems like she pushed him to far. I talked to him on the phone and he cried and said he doesn't know how to succeed and maybe he should just kill himself. Called his doctor and waiting for a call back about that. He has said that before. I know he is frustrated. cabstg@... wrote: > > > , > > I can totally relate. My son is 12 and has Asperger's and ADHD. It has > been a constant struggle.
