Guest guest
Signs of Autism in infant? - Survey..... Hi everyone, Just wondering if your child as an infant would wave their hand in their face or they would wiggle their fingers in an unusual like they were watching themselves wave their fingers. Also, did they seem as though they would let one of their arms hang behind them when you picked them up..almost like they sometimes forget they have an arm. Kind of like lazy arm. but still uses their arm or rolls over and doesn't put their arm to the front but leaves it behind themselves. How about taps one knee with the other foot. This is a sensory behavior. I'm thinking of doing a survey to find out if this could be a sign of sensory implications in infants. An awareness that something is already beginning and may be treated so early. I was asking in reference to my grandson who is 7 months and thought I could put together a survey of sensory awareness in infants. (Here's what I'm doing for my grandson, for his knee I give him very gentle joint compressions and that helps where he won't tap his knee and I'm thinking of doing soft wilbar brushing on his one arm.) A good OT who is aware of joint sensory can tell you how to do joint compressions, (I'd have to show you). This will help their minds become wired the right way. The biggest thing about autism is that they didn't get the right sensory signals from their bodies to program their brains correctly. .. If you can, send me the quarky things your infants did. Even if it was cute, my son at 12 months waved his hand by one side of his face, (this would be peripheral visual sensory need.) Most autistic symptoms are sensory based. Send to: DMHelmick7@...
