Guest guest
Here is our chance to share autism with the peers of our children, the ones who they sit beside in school, who swing along side them on the playground, and save a seat for them on the bus. Marc Brown, the creator of the PBS series, Arthur, is looking for ideas for a new character. Children, ages 6-12, and educators alike are encouraged to submit ideas for this new character--someone who will represent the fact that children come in all shapes, sizes and abilities. The deadline for the contest is March 31, so pass this information along to those who might have input and let's show Marc Brown that a character with autism/Asperger's will be just what he is looking for! You can create a new friend for Arthur! If you are between the ages of 6-12, you're invited to send in your idea for an exciting new character—one who can show the gang in Elwood City that children come in all shapes, sizes, and abilities. If your entry is chosen, YOU (and your character) will appear in a segment of an ARTHUR show! Plus, you will get to meet the creator of ARTHUR, Marc Brown. KIDS AND FAMILIES: To send us the character you create, you must download, print out, and mail in the Entry Form. EDUCATORS: If you are a teacher, librarian, afterschool leader, or other educator, find out how you can use the Arthur/All Kids Can Character Search with your group. Download and print out the Dear Educator letter for tips and suggestions. Note: You'll need Adobe Reader to access these PDF files. For complete official rules, click here. Be sure your entry is postmarked by March 31, 2009! http://pbskids.org/arthur/allkidscan/index.html Jo Anne
