Guest guest
>I just picked up my dd's medical records today from when we went to the >hospital for a check-up after her homebirth I don't have a copy of my medical records or my children's records. Any time I get the insurance changed they make it seem like I'm asking some terribly difficult task and I'm never allowed to just hand carry them to the new doctor. Should I push to have this information? Is it rightfully mine? This is sounding more and more uninformed as it goes. They never even let the records where you can get them while you're waiting for the doc, etc. Hey, now I really want them, what's in there?! I have always wondered what was the reason my oldest was rushed to NICU and kept there until they totally sabotaged any attempt I could make at breastfeeding (effectively). I was even more uninformed then than I am now so they did what they wanted. But, they never did explain what the reason was. If I had a copy of her records I'm sure it's there (if there was any good reason at all). > > such as home schooling, spanking, not vaccinating, >reading the Bible, believing in the Constitution, and get this, even >breast-feeding. Oh, such horrors you list, no wonder they're opposed! (hopefully obvious sarcasm) >The book is literally a how-to manual on protecting your >rights when a social worker shows up at the door, and also has tips on how to >fight false child abuse charges and win. Many parents simply don't know what >their rights are, so they literally have no rights. >If anyone has read this book,is it helpful? I didn't know there was such a book. I'd love to know if it's helpful as well. My DH is worried about that a little. Every now and then there'll be a news story about a dad being accused of doing something to his little girl and then he's very sensitive for a while about what he does around ours (not that he EVER needs to worry, of course). It'd be nice if we did know our rights then we wouldn't even think twice about that sort of thing. . > >---------------------------
Guest guest
My feeling is ALWAYS get your medical records after all aren't they YOUR medical records. Also, in going to congress for the hearings I have heard several stories that when it came time for the compensation hearing or lawsuit and they subpoenaed the records...guess what? major chunks were missing and when they finally got the actual record...it had been whited out! > Dale & Swartz wrote: > > >I just picked up my dd's medical records today from when we went to > the > >hospital for a check-up after her homebirth > > > I don't have a copy of my medical records or my children's records. > Any time I get the insurance changed they make it seem like I'm asking > some terribly difficult task and I'm never allowed to just hand carry > them to the new doctor. Sometimes we have been asked to sign something for them, but we have never been refused any of them. Cory
