Guest guest
Where is your center located? Is it covered by insurance and if not how much are the sessions? What is the age group? My daughter is 14 and is high functioning. Is this group for higher functioning kids? Thanks Pam From: creatingconnectionscompany <creatingconnectionscompany@...>Subject: [ ] new social skills groups forming Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2009, 9:07 PM Hi - For those that might be searching for social skills group experiences for their children...my private practice is currently forming new social skills groups for children of all ages. In our groups, we teach foundational relationship skills through confidence-boosting, positive experiences. All groups are co-facilitated by a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Board-Certified Music Therapist, and incorporate techniques from Neurologic Music Therapy and Psychology (including Floortime, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Structured Teaching). Children are grouped by age (3 years and up) and therapeutic need. Guest guest
Yes, we have a group that might work really well for your daughter...right now there is another girl that is 13 and 2 boys that are 13. If we get enough kids in this age range, we would like to split them into a boys group and a girls group. These would be high functioning groups. We currently meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm, but this could possibly change if needed. We are currently subletting space from Barrie Galvin and Associates on Miles Road in Warrensville Heights, right off of 271 and 480. We are planning to start groups by March and at that point it looks like we will be in our new permanent space at Landerhaven, just off Cedar and 271. Generally insurance does not cover group, but I have had 1-2 successes with getting some therapy reimbursed via insurance, so we can always try. The other avenue that a lot of families use is the Family Resource funding through Cuyahoga County Board of MRDD. If you are not in Cuyahoga County, there are similar funding programs through other counties as well. Please let me know if you would like more information about this. Our groups run for a 50-minute hour twice a month and the fee is $55 per group. The groups are all co-led by 2 masters level therapists - one Board Certified Music Therapist and one Licensed Professional Counselor - so there is a lot of individual attention for each child in the group. Hope this is helpful! Please let me know if I can help in any other way and if you are interested in enrolling in group.
