Guest guest
Not sure how many countries represented here. What is the actual vaccine policy in your country. What is mandatory? What exemptions do you have? Is everything voluntary but the make you think its not?? What countries are represented on these lists? You probably all know what ours in the US is, we are such big mouths! Wondering about the rest. Sheri -------------------------------------------------------- Sheri Nakken, R.N., MA wwithin@... Guest guest
Hi Sheri, I am from Canada, and my understanding is that no vaccines are mandatory here... however they do a good job of intimidating and creating an air of " mandatory " flavour to Canadians. See the Reader's Digest Article that Rose just posted... I haven't had the courage to read it all yet.. made my blood boil too much in the first few paragraphs. We don't plan to vaccinate our children at all in any way shape or form (first due in 2 weekish:)) however we also don't use the medical system as it is now, and would never give our kids antibiotics anymore than we would put that crap in our bodies. We would leave this country before we would let them poison our kids or take them away from us. If I am wrong at all on the status of our vaccinations here I would be happy to hear... and am looking forward to hearing from others and their experiences, Sherri-Lee What is vaccine policy in your country > Not sure how many countries represented here. > > What is the actual vaccine policy in your country. Guest guest
I live in Alberta, Canada, and have found our provincial vaccine policy to be pretty good. It's not well known that vaccines are voluntary - any one I've told is surprised. When I told the public health clinic (the public health nurses do the vaccines, not m.d's) when they called to remind me of my daughters 1 yr shots that we had chosen to not continue with vaccines at this time, all they said was that they'd mark that on her chart. I totally expected to hear from someone trying to change my mind, but 1.5 yrs and another baby later, no one has called. We have just registered our dd for pre-school in the fall, again I was hesitant and afraid she'd not be accepted because of her partial-vacc status, but their only requirement regarding this, as dictated by our provincial dept of health, is that they have knowledge of what she is and is not vacc'd against, and if there is an outbreak of something in the school (eg, measles or mumps) then we have to be willing to pull her out for two weeks. Thankfully, my husband and I are flexible enough in our careers (mine is on hold for a few more years) that we will be able to do this without having to worry about finding childcare. Once she reaches regular school, it is the same story. I feel very fortunate to be living in a place where my choice is accepted, even if its not respected by all. Because our family doctor doesn't do our vaccs, she doesn't even know about the kids not being vacc'd. If she were to ask, I'd tell her, but whenever we go for a well baby check-up she always says my kids are very healthy, and whatever I'm doing, to keep it up. Little does she know!!! Amy - mom to , almost 3 (DPT, polio, HiB x3), and , 4 mos (no shots)

I am originally from South Africa, but now live in the USA. They do not force vaccines in SA, it is recommended but not mandatory. My sister still lives there and has two daughters, one is fully vaccinated one is not. She has had a little problems with the doctors regarding this, but she mostly takes her daughter to a homeopath, or to my Father (Chiropractor).
