Guest guest
lisa!!! you've got an extremely good point there!!! now, let's see: all of us are poor, but all of us believe enough in the issue that we could probably spare about $30 or so. now, nicole, how many are we on this list???? how many stocks would that get us??? let's think about it, come on all of you, put in your opinion, we might actually get somewhere. we might beat them with their own weapons, that'll be the day!!!! claudia --- Reiss <lisa@...> wrote: > From: Reiss <lisa@...> > > > Someone previously had mentioned about how they had > bought stock in the > co. to get a look at " behind the scenes " > essentially. > > At the time...I thought interesting but I just > couldn't do it... > > Then I don't know if you all have heard of the NCAAP > and how they are > going to boycott the television stations because > there are not enough > black people on tv in positive, high profile > roles.....Here is a > thought.... Guest guest
OH MY GOD!! Get a bunch of us in one room for a board meeting and they would DIE!!! It would be so great to see their faces! I'm sitting her laughing just thinking about it. As for the list, we have just over 200 people at last count! List Owner Pharmaceutical Co. From: Reiss <lisa@...> Someone previously had mentioned about how they had bought stock in the co. to get a look at " behind the scenes " essentially. At the time...I thought interesting but I just couldn't do it... Then I don't know if you all have heard of the NCAAP and how they are going to boycott the television stations because there are not enough black people on tv in positive, high profile roles.....Here is a thought.... Apparantly, the NAAP (I'm sorry I am getting the initials wrong) BOUGHT stock in 4 of the major tv stations (NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX) and now they intend on going to the shareholders meetings. Here is my thought...(You know where I am going) CAN YOU IMAGINE IF WE BOUGHT STOCK IN MERCK, ETC AND THEN STARTED GOING TO THEIR MEETINGS????? in CT -- @... *************************************************************** We Must Have The Freedom To Choose & Respect Everyone's Choice *************************************************************** Any information obtained here is not to be construed as medical OR legal advice. The decision to vaccinate and how you implement that decision is yours and yours alone. ---------------------------
Guest guest
I'm interested. But even if there are 100 of us on this list, at $30 bucks a pop - - that's not going to be much of a voice. I'm game to the idea though. Keep the creative juices flowing! Love, Joan
Guest guest
, What a great idea!! Certainly count me in. Merck is trading at $69.31/share today.( I called Merrill Lynch and asked) Does anyone on the list know much about buying stocks? We could really have something here!! Jackie in Mass. Guest guest
If I understand it correctly from the stocks my dh and I have, it only takes buying 1 to get into a meeting of shareholders and make our voices heard. Where would they hold meetings, what state?? It would be worth a $65 share to go. Dawn Re: Pharmaceutical Co. > From: Jefkarp@... > > I'm interested. Guest guest
Great idea guys BUT, I just don't know if I could stomach giving them one penny of money and thus creating more demand for their stock, etc. I can't even stand to see their name run across the bottom of the screen on to cnbc business channel. Also, when I was little, my parents owned stock in Disney for my brother and I. Every year they'd have an annual stockholders meeting at the Anaheim Convention Center. I remember there being TONS of people there and we'd have to sit through people asking questions, etc. until we got to preview an up and coming movie that hadn't been released yet. (Our favorite part!) The majority of stockholders are going to want to talk $$$. And I wonder if they'd " dismiss " anything anyone else brought up as irrelevant or something. Maybe someone who's been to a meeting more recently would know more.
Guest guest
Yes, a " one share " holder has the same rights as a 20,000 share holder. But board members with controlling interest can over turn anything that the other members vote on, though. (My husband and I are launching a major internet transportation business and plan to go public at the beginning of the year, so I've learned a lot about stocks lately. BTW, if anyone would like to know how people get in on the " ground floor " of these companies ( ie: buying stock dirt cheap before they go public) email me ;-)) I'm not sure about the meetings though. Hubby's not home to ask. I would think it would be wherever their headquarters are, though.
