Guest guest
Hi everyone, My son's center-based autism class will not exist next year. Technically because he'll be 3 it doesn't affect us but I am personally bothered enough that I'm thinking of starting a non-profit specifically for kids under 3. (This is assuming people who can't afford 60K a year) Other than what was the Day class, I know kids with a Medicaid card can go to the Cleveland Clinic as young as 18 months. Other than that...every program I can think of only starts at age 3. Medicaid will cover ABA tutoring, but I'm not sure how families who can't afford a parent at home full time would swing having a tutor come in, and what they would do the rest of the 40 hours of the week. What we did was I was at home with him handling the various appointments and scheduling, doing the Responsive Teaching method with him myself, and having other students come in to help. But, if both people are working, you can't do it. What do other people do? If there already exist great resources out there that I missed somehow then a new program would have no purpose. Any thoughts appreciated...Deborah Hoffman
