Guest guest
--just curious which district you are in. If it is N Canton I feel your pain! Try Ceese Sweitzer at Eduational and Psychological solutions on Fulton Rd. 330456-1899. These sisters Petigrew and Sweitzer, worked in the Canton City school system as administrators and are now ed advocates/psychologists. Also I called the number in the Whose IDEA is This? booklet given at the IEP conferences. It was a Columbus state attorney for education and they were very helpful to tell me exactly what to put in writing for the district to notify them that you were not in agreement with the current IEP. It is referred to as a FAPE. It is under how to resolve conflicts. OH legal rights service 1-800-282-9181 There are procedural safeguards that protect you and your child. If you don't agree with their evaluation or modifications you don't have to sign anything. If you don't sign the IEP goes in safe mode (as is)until you can work out the details with the district. If they won't accomodate your child as he deserves under Free and appropriate education FAPE, then threaten due process which is a hearing where they must prove why you are wrong and they are right. It involves mediation which they must pay for and will likely back down and give you what you deserve anyways! Good luck. - In , " " <jrtisevichg@...> wrote: > > Looking for a good special needs attorney in Canton - to look at getting my school district to help with paying for ABA therapy.
