Guest guest
I hadn't heard about the proposed changes. What are the other changes they are proposing? From: pcrawfo1 <PCrawfo1@...>Subject: [ ] autism scholarship changes Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2009, 9:45 PM Not sure how many on this list utilize the autism scholarship, but I was wondering if any are following the proposed/planned changes for the scholarship. Such as all tutors must be certified (as in as a licensed teacher) effective July 1st...etc.Just curious what your thoughts are.
Guest guest
That it will not cover tuition. And unless a tutor is certified (as in a teacher, slp, ot, pt) it also will not be covered. > > From: pcrawfo1 <PCrawfo1@...> > Subject: [ ] autism scholarship changes > > Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2009, 9:45 PM > > > > > > > Not sure how many on this list utilize the autism scholarship, but I > was wondering if any are following the proposed/planned changes for the > scholarship. Guest guest
My understanding is that it will cover " tuition " if the school is specifically addressing iep goals and the tuition is broken down into what is being provided. So for the local parochial school, no it is not covered, however for a school addressing the iep and documenting with regards to it yes. My understanding is they are trying to eliminate the 3rd party billing of tuition...i.e.the school is not a provider, yet the tuition is paid for via the consultant or another provider. The tutors at this point do not have to be credentialed however it is coming. Additionally the tutors must be directly observed and working under the consultant on board with the program. Otherwise they must have a teaching type of degree. So for families using Northcoast (or similar agencies) and using a different consultant, my understanding is that will no longer be acceptable as of July 1st. Clear as mud right?
