To the presenters and volunteers - You have our deepest gratitude. To the parents - You are the future. It is our privilege to walk with you. News Notes • The last 3 months has brought more good news for our community than ever before from Kirby's book, Evidence of Harm to Lyn Redwood's and Kirby's appearance on the Montel show to F. Kennedy Jr's. article, Deadly Immunity, in the June Issue of Rolling Stone and Salon.com. • The New York Times hit piece, " On Autism's Cause, It's Parents vs. Research " referred to below, was so tainted it leaves a foul odor. In response to its numerous errors, omissions and distortions of fact Mark Blaxill wrote an excellent letter to the Public Editor. Dan Olmsted of UPI also wrote a wonderful response. • An autism pediatric dental practice for children on the spectrum is being organized in Chicago. Partners in the practice need input from parents and professionals to assess interest in such a specialized service. We need to know if folks would be willing to travel to Chicago for complete dental care for their child if previously diagnosed dental care is not obtainable in their area. If the child needs extensive care, treatment would be provided with the child sedated or completely asleep in an outpatient facility by qualified anesthesia personnel. Please contact Jeff Cantor, DDS with any comments, suggestions, or questions. • Dr. Neubrander has a wonderful medium called BioChat to exchange information. BioChat is live and interactive Internet chat. Recent guests have included Dr. Haley, Dr. McCandless and Dr. Bradstreet. BioChat is moderated every night from 9:00 -10:00 pm EST. Dr. Neubrander is looking for people on the West Coast who are interested in being moderators. Anyone interested should contact Rick Neubrander. • We would like to acknowledge Cellini's great work in spearheading the effort in Illinois in getting the Mercury Free Vaccine Act - HB 511 passed. The Mercury-Free Vaccine Act provides that no person shall be vaccinated with a vaccine or injected with any product that contains as an additive, thimerosal or other mercury-based product. This bill requires that beginning January 1, 2006, no person in Illinois shall receive a vaccine with more than 1.25 micrograms of mercury per dose and commencing in January 1, 2008, no person shall receive any vaccine that contains or ever contained mercury even at trace levels. Thank you, • A message from our good friends at A-CHAMP. A-CHAMP (Advocates for Children's Health Affected by Mercury Poisoning) Political Action Committee Dear Fellow Parents: I am pleased to announce the formation of A-CHAMP Political Action Committee, the Advocates for Children's Health Affected by Mercury Poisoning Political Action Committee, a national organization that aims to be a unified and strong political voice for the autism community. We hope to become known simply as A-CHAMP. Our goal is to enable parents as a political force. Our organization will be strictly non-partisan and non-ideological. Our working group represents the political spectrum. We hope and expect that parents of all political views will be united with us. Our one unifying political focus is to get the truth out about what has happened to our children and to make sure our children have a secure future. We will empower parents to make sure this happens. We can succeed because we will, indeed, be armed with the truth. Our sole focus will be on our kids. The purpose of A-CHAMP is to provide a hands-on lobbying and political action organization for parents of children with autistic spectrum disorder. The initial working group of A-CHAMP includes parents who have been deeply engaged in this effort. They include Liz Birt (Illinois), Bobbie Manning (Western NY), Rita Shreffler (MO), Lujene (MO), Gilmore (NYC) and Lenny Schafer (CA). Our initial focus will be on vaccine injuries, including Thimerosal and MMR related issues, because these pose a direct threat to children, but our attention will not be limited to those concerns. Almost all our children, for example, are denied basic health insurance coverage yet we pay the same premiums as other families -- we intend to stop this inequity. This is one illustration of the practical problems that confront parents. We expect to address these and other critical concerns within our community by empowering parents. There is no reason a well organized parents' movement cannot be as powerful as the AARP or the NRA or, to use a more recent historical example, Moveon.org. A-CHAMP will not supplant or disturb not-for-profit organizations, biomedical support groups, or any other work with which many of you have been involved. To the contrary, our purpose is to give the individuals involved in all those efforts a unified political voice, one that will be backed by the power of large numbers of parents. Our power will come from our numbers, if we are organized and unified. Our adversaries may have 1200 lobbyists in Washington. We have the potential to have 120,000 or more lobbyists and with that will come real power. With real power we can help our kids. We have already sought out and obtained the support of many parents, and we are continuing this effort to establish a broad support base. We have received an enthusiastic response. For the sake of our children, it is imperative that we succeed in this campaign. Please join us. Our children need us to be one strong voice so that they may be heard! We invite and encourage you to participate with us in a collaborative endeavor. We believe that the future of our children depends upon it. You and every member of your family can become A-CHAMP for your children by visiting our website at www.a-champ.org. Very truly yours, Bob Krakow President ~ A-CHAMP www.A-CHAMP.org Advocates for Children's Health Affected by Mercury Poisoning The Third Wave... Gathering force the third wave thunders on the shore. Pharma, bureaucrats, politicians, pundits, media outlets, and various organizations assess the damage. Last week, The New York Times reported, " ... in recent months, these parents have used their numbers, their passion and their organizing skills to become a potent national force. " The first wave rises with the publication of Leo Kanner's theories in 1943. Mothers are to blame, forced to admit their guilt. Children are taken from their homes. Families destroyed. Your sister, girlfriend, mother, wife is the problem. Children need help. Mothers need analysis. An industry of blame is born. Therapists bask in circular endorsement for their " heroic efforts. " Mothers do no get better. Children do not get better. Dr. Bernard Rimland's seminal work, Infantile Autism, published in 1964 brings a second wave. The origins are biological. Moms are not to blame. Applied behavior analysis and psychotropic drugs become " accepted " treatments. The culture of blame gives way to semantics as science. Diagnosis is the product of new-found earnest enlightenment. PDD-NOS enters the lexicon; less pungent; more politically correct. The destructive undertow of the first wave continues. Genetic research promises answers it can't fulfill. On the horizon a storm is brewing. The rising tide of children with autism crosses a threshold in the early 1990s. Parents turn to the Internet. Societies, professional organizations, your family doctor, major medical universities and government agencies respond to the problem with non-answers. Thousands of web sites are built, beacons crying out, " I'm here. " Maps as out of date as any found five hundred years ago when mapmakers wrote, " Beyond this place, there be dragons! " await parents: the end of knowledge, the edge of reason, myth masquerading as science. Parents find each other: the third wave. Collectively millions of hours are spent finding, researching, learning. The numbers continue to rise. More parents join the search for truth. The wrong answers are found. Parents are ignored and dismissed. The waters will not be calmed. The problem will not go away. The problem crystallizes around a search for truth and those who oppose it. In divided times relativistic answers are conjured up and offered as true. But what is truth? There is a useful philosophical tool to better understand a problem. It comes from a branch of philosophy called realism. The idea is to subtract the thing in question and then ask " Could the world without it operate normally? " The thing in question is truth. If one subtracts truth from the world then the world cannot function normally. All great works of science and art would immediately disappear. They are by definition searches for truth. Banks would not need to be truthful. Business and commerce would collapse. Minus truth there could be no facts. The idea of education would end. Only basic survival skills would remain. Those who oppose the search for truth scorn it without realizing they cannot subtract it from the world. Truth can be hidden, manipulated, stretched and ridiculed. Truth cannot cease to exist. We reject relativistic truths. We will not be ignored. We are not afraid. We are here. Corporations think in terms of quarterly profits, politicians in terms of election cycles, government bureaucrats in terms of job security. We think and plan in terms of the lifetime of our children. The fourth wave grows and behind it another and another and another - Truth. No ground will be high enough, no harbor safe enough to shelter wrong from right. With the right set of eyes one can look into the future and see where the waters crest and recede. But no eyes can look deeply enough to see a parent's pain. Rational and reasonable our passion and organizing skills become a potent national force. Together, we right the wrongs. We turn, fall upon our knees. We turn to hide our faces, our tears the waves. " My son, sleep tonight. My quest is you. The dragons are gone. I will never leave you. Tomorrow we will play in a bright new wonderful world. " As always, if you have any questions, comments, ideas, or suggestions please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you. My Best, Edmund Arranga 714.680.0792 http://AutismOne.org earranga@... Researchers were particularly interested in one dietary characteristic the autistic children seemed to exhibit, he said. " Certainly, a lot of these children had peculiar cravings for high-carbohydrate foods that caused their behaviours, " said Dr MacFabe. " We were interested in finding a link between certain compounds that are produced by bacteria in the digestive system particularly those occurring with early childhood infections. " The bacteria produce propionic acid, a short chain fatty acid, which in addition to existing in the gut, is commonly found in bread and dairy products, Dr MacFabe said. To test their hypothesis that diet plays a part in generating autistic behaviour, UWO scientists administered the compound to rats' brains. " They immediately engaged in bouts of repetitive behaviour, hyperactivity and impaired social behaviours which had close similarity to what parents are seeing with autism, " Dr MacFabe said. Update on Lead Blanket Alert Autism One Radio is continuing the investigation with regard to the lead-containing blanket sold to parent, Lois , as suggested by a representative at the parent company, Shielding International of Madras, Oregon, and ordered through a distributor in Michigan. It has been related to Autism One Radio that a representative at the parent company also let the Coordinator of the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, Michigan Department of Community Health, know that a child?fs security blanket could be sent in to be filled. Autism One Radio has been in contact with the Section Manager, Environmental Toxicology, Public Health Division, in Portland, Oregon, and has been told that Shielding International has agreed to send a notice to distributors and put a notice in its catalog, however, this does not address the issue of notifying parents who have purchased this product or having the product recalled. Additionally, Autism One Radio was told that the CEO of Shielding International has said that they do not sell directly to the public and they do not know why (for what use) a distributor is ordering an item. Oregon will get the word out around the state to groups that work with children. Autism One Radio will air a program covering this situation when this investigation is farther along. Documentation related to the testing on the blanket shipped to Lois can be seen here<http://autismone.org/radio/?radio=leadblanket>. JENNY MCCARTHY TO DELIVER THE KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT AUTISM ONE 2008 Wednesday, May 21 Sunday, May 25, Westin O?fHare Hotel, Chicago, ILL We are very pleased to announce McCarthy as our Keynote Speaker, Friday, May 23rd. ?fs passionate journey recounting the recovery of her son<http://www.amazon.com/Louder-Than-Words-Mothers-Journey/dp/0525950117/ref=sr\ _1_1/104-6459016-9394355?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1189179017 & sr=8-1> touched a deep emotional need to openly begin the conversation of recovery. Like a back on a 99-yard touchdown dash, broke through the mainstream media?fs ?gr-word?h defense and within a three-day period spiked the ball on Oprah, Larry King Live! and The View. Finally, Recovery was out in the open. Some of the hosts challenged , but her knowledge would not be denied. Suddenly and without censure America heard the truth: hope and healing are real. It had been a long time in coming. From the first documented case of recovery to national media outlets covering ?fs story a long and dark decade passed. Not a word. The mighty journalistic institutions with their armies of investigative reporters we have come to depend on (with the exception of Dan Olmsted<http://www.ageofautism.com/>/UPI) passed on the most important story of our time. It took a mother. A mother with a forum and a deep conviction to do what needed to be done. Autism is the story of mothers. Mothers who redefined themselves to become teachers, writers, researchers, advocates, doctors, lawyers, programmers; no job was too difficult, no burden too heavy?cmothers took up the crucible and inch by inch carried on against every imaginable force and hardship. From every plain and town mothers left careers, and friends and family members who could not understand their conviction behind. Called ?gdesperate,?h and ?gfrantic?h and given no chance of success mothers met every smirk with greater resolve. In the normal course of events the call for true courage may only be heard once or twice in a life and never heeded. In the turbulent course for mothers with children on the spectrum the call is clarion and constant. heeded the call choosing the courageous path, instantly creating powerful enemies, but immediately bonded with the thousands of other mothers who had put motherhood before all other considerations. carries a greater truth than any one she knew before. She carries the courageous conviction of each determined mother who sacrificed untold indignities so that could save her son. REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN<http://www.autismone.org/leftside.cfm?page=14>. Refrigerator Moms 2.0 Language strikes a deep chord in each of us. The English language is a wonderful tool, but, like a gun, it can be used as a weapon. ?gSodbuster?h and ?gbureaucrat?h are but two simple examples of language as a weapon, with new ones being coined all the time. Aimed at specific groups the emotionally-laden labels are meant to attach blame, separate ?gthem?h from ?gus?h and by design tell one-half the story: the side the antagonist wants you to believe. ?gSodbuster?h was a term of derision aimed at farmers by ranchers, ?gbureaucrat?h a term of contempt wielded by those who wish to highlight the many shortcomings of an organization or individual. The word-weapon of choice in the latest autism assault is ?ggenetics?h and it?fs loaded and aimed at your head. Autism is no stranger to the vulgarities of language. Indeed, the entire history of autism could fairly be described ?gas words as instruments of blame.?h Kanner and Bettelheim, the one-two punch condemning mothers to perdition, defined autism and its legacy of blame which parasitically burrows into the host of the day -- psychiatry in the 20th Century, genetics in the 21st -- to lay its eggs of guilt and shame. Complementary theories of fault (drinking moms<http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=31375>, older moms<http://pnnonline.org/article.php?sid=7365>) vie for attention while fanning a mother?fs deepest fears the fear of unwittingly harming their child. The ?ggenetic?h theory of autism is so full of holes it defies straightforward analysis, which is in keeping with the ?gRefrigerator Mom?h theory of the 20th Century. Welcome to the ?grabbit hole.?h Central to both theories, ?gAdmit the blame is yours then we might be able to help you.?h ?gRefrigerator Moms?h were required to admit their poor parenting skills before their ?ghealing?h psychoanalysis sessions could begin. Resistance to admission of ?gguilt?h was regarded as denial and grounds for removal of the child from their home. ?gGenetic Moms?h begins with the same premise: ?gThe blame is yours, we know it, you know it, admit it. Donate a tissue sample and we might be able to find out what?fs wrong with you,?h with the implicit message: ?gDeny the genetic juggernaut and you put other children at risk.?h The foundational flaws in favor of a genetic cure are of such gibberish it all but paralyzes the brain from higher-order thought, freezing the esophagus in a state of disbelief. It reminds me of the old joke<http://cumberlandbooks.com/blog/?p=1092> where a drunk is explaining to a passerby he is looking for his keys under the streetlamp although he lost them up the road because he can see better in the light. There cannot be a genetic epidemic<http://www.gene-watch.org/genewatch/articles/16-2herbert_silverman.html\ >, leaving environmental factors as the only possible culprit. If the cause of lead poisoning is lead, if the cause of cancer is asbestos, if the cause of burns is fire remove the dangers. Don?ft ask which children are genetically susceptible to lead, asbestos, and fire. Genetic apologists?f next step will be to call for bio-engineering flame-retardant kids. Belief in genetics as the Holy Grail is a dangerous extension of ?gRefrigerator Moms?h gussied up in 21st Century ?gscientific?h finery. In an outstanding critical analysis of genetics Dr. Herbert is doing to the ?gGenetic Mom?h theory what Dr. Rimland did to the ?gRefrigerator Mom?h theory 50 years ago: discredit its foundation, premises, and false promises. In ?gMore than code: From genetic reductionism to complex biological systems<http://autismone.org/documents/More%20than%20code.pdf>?h Dr. Herbert says, ?gThe reduction of the physicality of DNA to notions of ?egene?f and ?einformation?f is biologically naive. Yet it pervades not only public relations but also regulatory policies and even many scientific research programmes.?h ?gNotions of ?eone gene, one disease (or one trait)?f are also being undermined. Gene researchers have sought to unearth the ?egenes for?f physical and neuropsychiatric disease states, as well as for behavioural and social features ranging from intelligence and physical prowess to violence. Hitherto there has been no direct mapping from DNA to protein to such observable human behavioural traits or disorders, and even the notion of such simple mapping is inappropriate (Newman 1988b; Hubbard and Wald 1999; Paterson et al. 1999). It would indeed be peculiar if hundreds of millions of years of evolution led in a direct line to a chemical code that ?edetermined?f human and animal behaviour in a manner unambiguously reflective of the hierarchical structures of capitalist industrial society. Notions of direct mapping from gene to behaviour are also dubious from the vantage point of cognitive neuroscience, since between genes, proteins and behaviour lie many mediating levels and processes, including not only social influences but also variations in brain and body biology that are not fully determined by genes. There will be no straight path from gene to behaviour through this web of intersecting influences.?h Autism is genetics?f halting problem<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halting_problem>. Autism is genetically unsolvable. But don?ft expect the impossibility of the endeavor to slow the genetic movement or their breathless headlines of ?gGenetic Mice with Autism Created,?h ?g56 New Genes Identified?h and ?g$200 Million Raised for Genetic Research.?h As Dr. Herbert states, ?gAlthough scientists and biotechnology corporations have fallen far short of fulfilling initial ambitions, their enormous investment of financial and intellectual capital dictates the ongoing pursuit of the genetic ?erevolution?f.?h In the land of flibbertigibbets and fantastics, ?ggenetics?h is the philosopher?fs stone, alchemy and astrology rolled into one pejorative solution to the autism problem; promise everything, answer nothing. Create ?gscientific?h barriers to entry, support the machinations of profit and profiling and above all else use ?ggenetic?h as the newest instrument to blame moms. Lost in a hubris of genetic blame is our children are beautiful beyond words, precious beyond description. The blessed interplay of creativity, intelligence, humor, and the thousand other gifts we see shaping their solitary right to existence are not reducible to genetic claims of redemption. Their tender lives are ordained by healing - your touch, your voice, your love, your care - the salvation. If we don?ft get a chance to connect again before the holidays have a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year. As always, please let us know if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or ideas. Thank you. The new swine flu virus is causing mostly mild symptoms similar to the regular flu, but CDC officials say the virus could mutate and become more serious. Congress has given drug companies several billion dollars to develop experimental swine flu vaccines that will contain genetically engineered flu viruses and novel oil-based adjuvants that have never been licensed in the U.S. These experimental flu vaccines are being fast- tracked with limited testing for public release and use this fall. CDC officials have announced that children ages 5 to 11 will be targeted first using school-based vaccination programs. There are many questions about the safety and effectiveness of these experimental swine flu vaccines and whether new state public health laws, which have been enacted since 9-11, will force vaccination and quarantine of Americans without informed consent. " If your son or daughter (or you) suffers from seizures, we would like to ask you to fill out a survey created by Dr. Frye with the help of Prof. , Science Coordinator of ARI/Defeat Autism Now! We think that this very detailed survey will provide a much richer understanding of the efficacy and possible side-effects of current treatments for seizures. Please help us by filling out the survey if it applies to you, and by forwarding information about this survey to other autism groups. You can access the survey at http://www.surveymethods.com/EndUser.aspx?E8CCA0BDEFA3B9B8 Thank you very much for helping us find answers to seizures in autism. Sincerely, E. Fall 2009 Conference October 8-12, Dallas, Texas Please visit www.defeatautismnow.com ACTION ALERT from the National Autism Association Please visit http://www.nationalautismassociation.org/abuse.php - 19 states have zero regulations protecting our disabled children in schools. - States that do have regulations or guidelines are not being followed by many school districts. - Our federal lawmakers say they have not heard from us on harmful restraint and seclusion. According to a May 2009 government report on restraint and seclusion practices, an overwhelming amount of abuse, neglect, and emotional abuse is happening in schools throughout the country. The report found no federal laws in place that regulate restraint & seclusion. The report revealed that state regulations are “widely divergent” and that 19 states have nothing that regulates restraint & seclusion in schools. The report revealed ten case studies where children with varying disabilities died as a result of restraint and seclusion, were seriously harmed, or emotionally traumatized. Because there are no laws, many of the people responsible for this abuse still work within the school systems. Take these two steps immediately to raise your voice and help our children's safety! STEP 1: Send a letter to federal lawmakers & call: every member on the Education and Labor Committee needs to hear from us IMMEDIATELY. CLICK HERE for a sample letter and list of committee members. We need to show them how big our voices are! STEP 2: Send a letter to state lawmakers & call: if you are in the following states, you have NO state regulations: Wisconsin, Wyoming, Vermont, South Carolina, South Dakota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Nebraska, Mississippi, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Indiana, Idaho, Florida, Georgia, Arizona. TED CARR Pioneer Psychologist Transformed Understanding and Treatment of Autism Behaviors The autism community lost a great leader, Dr. Carr, who was killed by a drunk driver the afternoon of June 20, 2009. Dr. Carr, the Leading Professor in the Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, was a top advisor to the Autism Society of America. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague and his wife, Ilene Wasserman, who was also killed in the crash, and we send our thoughts and prayers to their family. Dr. Carr was recognized internationally for his research on new treatments for autism and related disabilities. He co-developed Functional Behavioral Assessment and Positive Behavior Support, a strategy for dealing with learning and behavior issues endorsed by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Dr. Carr wrote numerous articles on autism treatment and authored the best-selling book, Communication-Based Intervention for Problem Behavior ( H. s, 1994). He received numerous awards, including the Applied Research Award in Behavior Analysis (American Psychological Association, 2001) and the Distinguished Research Award for Career Achievement (ARC, 1999). Dr. Carr was a strong supporter, valued contributor and beloved colleague at the Autism Society of America. As a member of the Autism Society’s Panel of Professional Advisors, he was a frequent contributor to the Autism Advocate, most recently co-editing an issue on ABA therapy, which was one of his many areas of expertise. With Drs. Martha Herbert and -Myles, Dr. Carr developed the Autism Society’s Treatment Guided Research Initiative and was the main inspiration for the " Quality of Life " objectives the Society uses to develop and evaluate its programs. A frequent presenter at the Autism Society National Conference, Dr. Carr was scheduled to moderate this year’s keynote panel on “The Future of Autism” on July 23. The panel will continue to be held in his honor. “Ted was passionately committed to improving the quality of life for people with autism and their families,” said Lee Grossman, President and CEO of the Autism Society. “Those of us who were privileged to work closely with him will miss his insights, his humor, his deep compassion and advocacy for people affected by autism. We will miss him greatly but we will ensure his legacy lives on.” “Dr. Ted Carr was a pioneer in the field of positive behavior supports and autism spectrum disorders. His focus on enhancing quality of life and understanding of the systemic issues surrounding behaviors forced practitioners to think more broadly when designing interventions,” said Dr. Pratt, Chair of the Autism Society Board of Directors. “He was a gentle man and quiet innovator with a quick wit and amusing perspective. His work will truly live on and serve as an inspiration for generations to come.” Autism: Changing the Course in Canada Autism Canada, Autism One, and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto are planning a conference in Toronto this fall. ON THE VOICEAMERICA HEALTH AND WELLNESS CHANNEL www.health.voiceamerica.com Tuesday, July 14, 12:00 noon ET Autism One: A Conversation of Hope Host: Teri Arranga Guest: Barbara Loe Fisher, Co-Founder and President of the National Vaccine Information Center Topic: Flu vaccines: what you must know, with Barbara Loe Fisher This past spring, the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control declared a " public health emergency " after a new human-pig-bird hybrid influenza virus was identified in Mexico near a pig farm. Please look to the National Vaccine Information Center at www.NVIC.org for more information about what you should know and what you can do. Guest guest
Proud Member of the Autism Collaboration Monday July 27, 2009 GENERATION RESCUE AND AUTISMONE JOIN FORCES TO HELP CHILDREN LOS ANGELES, C.A. Generation Rescue and AutismOne are delighted to announce their partnership to better meet the needs of the autism community in order to help children and educate parents and medical professionals. Based on shared values and each organization’s expertise the alliance will provide creative and innovative solutions to many of the autism, ADHD and chronic illness community’s most pressing problems. Ed Arranga, executive director of AutismOne said “The possibilities are endless. We need a dream team to win and Generation Rescue’s crucial mix of education, analysis, outreach and inspiration immediately impacts the debate. Their commitment and passion provides the critical mass to help change everything.” Stan Kurtz, president of Generation Rescue, echoes the sentiment. “I have always admired AutismOne. We both advocate for child safety and share a common vision of care, treatment, recovery, and prevention. Together we will arm parents and professionals with the latest techniques on living a healthy lifestyle and educate how autism, ADHD and chronic illness are preventable and reversible.” Two initiatives from the combined efforts are an expanded AutismOne conference and a Stay at Home Moms March. “We know how difficult it is for moms to get involved in advocacy efforts,” says Teri Arranga, “so we’ve created a national neighborhood campaign that recognizes moms need to be at home but still want to be involved.” The Stay at Home Moms March realizes a mother’s role in the recovery process of a child and will be the largest autism advocacy initiative ever undertaken. “We are proud to be spearheading with AutismOne a game-changing event of this magnitude,” stated Candace Mc of Generation Rescue. “It’s time we developed a national network that gives moms a voice and I believe the community is more than ready to be mobilized.” Look for the AutismOne/Generation Rescue conference to embrace greater concerns of the autism community and include world renowned professionals who are new to the cause. Cross pollination among individuals and disciplines is the “engine” of scientific progress. “ McCarthy has played a vital part in the last two AutismOne conferences,” says Rowley, associate director of AutismOne. “We could not be more thrilled to be working more closely with Generation Rescue. Personally, I can’t wait to get started.” Generation Rescue’s partnership with AutismOne accelerates the process forward. Over the coming weeks more details about the AutismOne/Generation Rescue conference, the Stay at Home Moms March, and other initiatives will be made available. Join us and be part of the generation that ends autism. To be removed from this list please reply with " Remove " in the subject line.
