Re: IgG deficiency

Hi

Thanks for answering. I am not sure which one allergy subclass is. I thought

that was IgE not IgG. But anyway, did you have just fatigue at the time, or did

you have flu like symptoms? I believe the benefit would only be to kill bugs if

you have any, and in my experience bugs result in flu like symptoms. The

literature does say that many people with deficiencies have no symptoms, so they

shouldn't be treated. But I have spent 14 years (oh my god, it has been that

long?) jumping from one virus and bacteria to the next. I thought this time

that transfer factor was doing the trick, but now it isn't working.

I am deficient in the allergy subclass igg which would make me eligible except

gamma goblin is now very expensive and my hmo won't pay for it. When I first had

cfs in 1990 I was put on gamma goblin ivs weekly. It did not improve my energy

but it kept me from getting other bugs such as a cold or flu.

I found that the GG helped my exhaustion & flu like symptoms & my general

health a lot & I never get infections or complications like a lot of CFIDS

people

I know not on the GG. When I went off of it, I deteriorated within a few

months back to my original level of exhaustion & weakness & flu like symptoms.

So

my experience is that it does help with viral & general immunity & overall

health & strength & functionability.

Joan this sounds interesting to say the least. Had no idea what it was until I googled it but it's sounding familiar. Can you give us more detaills on how your doctor discovered it?

Joan,Did they say which IgG subclass(es) is (are) deficient ?IgG deficiencies are not uncommon, and some of them can impair some aspects of the immune system (depending on the deficiency level).Note that this is independent of, and in addition to AERD.>> I've just been found to have low IgG, don't know the details yet. Has anyone else had this and been treated for it?>

I was also told that I had low IgG (by my immunologist Dr.Wasserman at McMaster

University)who suggested IgG therapy.

After seeing a copy of my bloodwork I was placed on long term sulfatrim Ds

800-160mg (ie for a year,Rx by my E.N.T.specialist,Dr.Desrosiers)to try first.

If I continue to have more than a couple of sinus infections while being treated

with the sulfatrim ds then I will consider IgG therapy (by my immunologist).

If you search IgG you will see my earlier posts on this. There are some potential

risks to IgG therapy as well to consider and I believe the IgG is administered

over an hour or so on a monthly basis. The IgG is collected from many different

donors..Sincerely Wayne

Thanks Wayne. i'll go search your earlier posts -- but was wondering how long you've been on sulfatrim and how it is going. Don't know yet what is going to be advised for me, or what course I'll follow. Don't want to do anything with a risk of making it all worse, but of course i'd like to be healthier too.On May 26, 2011, at 4:00 PM, Wayne wrote:

Hi Joan, not sure why my IgG is low or how long it's been low..I know my

immunologist was curious as to when I had the pneumovax shot as she did tests to

see my antibody response to the vaccine.

I've been on the apo-sulfatrim DS (1 tablet daily)since the middle of

February.I've had plugged sinuses after the flu 2x since but it didn't appear

colored as before. On a separate occasion there was a huge plug that cleared one

day( about a month ago) which looked unusual( clear to white color). So it's not

a huge difference but the secretions appear different so far.

I had recurrent tonsillitis a lot as a child (tonsils and adenoids out at age

5).Afterwards it wasn't uncommon for me to miss 30 days of school a year until

at least grade 9.I stammered (stuttered ) badly until grade 8,now only when

nervous. My samter's started with asthma at 23 yrs of age, aspirin reaction

appeared about 2 yrs later and sinus problems shortly afterward. When I was a

young adult I also had a lot of flu, sinus infections and ear

infections.Basically any respiratory bug I was exposed to seemed to result in

infection. The sinus infections intensified as well as the headaches as I got

older.I had left orbital cellulitis 2X and calcific changes in all sinuses. Is

this similar to your experience?

Hi Wayne,

Do you know which IgG subclasses you are deficient in ?

BTW, Ginseng is a good immune booster too (pro-Th1 ; alternate-month cures

recommended), so is broccoli (pro-Nrf2).

The doc thought I had immune issues since I keep getting infections -- there are blood tests for IgG and other Ig’s. Haven’t been to an immunologist yet, so I don’t know how serious it is. I do take various herbal immune system things, and was doing better for a while. But also have mucho stress right now in my life.JoanOn May 26, 2011, at 2:35 PM, Celtic Dove wrote:

Thanks Joan and sorry to hear about all your stress. I'm convinced stress is a major factor with samters.

My partner of over 30 years recycled me for a young Philippino girl in January and my asthma issues have been through the roof ever since.
