I too have not had SOS for a long while-- since OctoberI had a horrible asthma situation in Jan that put me in hospital for 10 days . While there they had me on pretty big doses of steroid then for 2weeks ( I had to step down)It was terrible -- I hate them( though they helped)ever since them my eyes are aching/ tired and I have developed some kind if nystagmusMy energy level is very low very tiredMay be hormones but I don't knowSent from my iPhoneOn May 18, 2011, at 1:13 PM, "gypsymouse@..." <jratico@...> wrote:

I am very careful with systemic steroids. My father was on them for many years (sometimes a regular low dose, and sometimes in bursts) and has MANY complications now in which the steroids played a part. For myself, I feel pretty cruddy when I have to take steroids. Muscle pain, irritability, etc. I was taking bursts multiple times per year prior to ASA desensitization. Since then (2 years ago) I've only needed steroids once for an asthma flare that occurred with forest fires in the area. I would look into ASA desense rather than relying on regular bursts of steroids. I was able to gradually reduce my aspirin dose to 325mg/day by 18mo post desense with no recurrence of polyps. You don't have to stay at 1300mg forever.

I suppose what I'm saying is that if I were to take say six or seven such bursts of prednisolone each year would this be safe and give my adrenal glands sufficient time to recover each time?If not then how many such steroid bursts would be acceptable.
