If you have attempted to open one of the pdf files in the e-books, and all you got was a white screen, it's probably because your Adobe reader is outdated. I had this problem, myself. I had to down load Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1. You can get a free down load at this URL.

Ok, here goes.

Go to your Internet Explorer.

At the top of the page is Tools, click on it.

A new little window drops down.

Find internet options and click on it.

Go to the Security Settings tab.

Scroll down until you find the category DownLoads.

Make sure on the File dowload section that you have "enable" checked.

Also, downloading is affected by ActiveX programs. If you are blocking ActiveX, then you may not be able to down load. Active X controls is in the Secutiry Settings area too. But do remember, to be careful on which ActiveX files you let through.

Viruses can and spyware can come through with ActiveX files. Be sure to have security programs that are running all the time. Also, once a week do a Defrag and disk cleanup on your drives. Run your security programs weekly. I have the following:

Ad-Aware SE Personal

AVG Free

Spybot - Search & Destroy

Super AntiSpyware Professional.

There is another thing to be aware of. When you down load the Adobe Acrobat Reader 8, along comes the Google Launch site. It doesn't ask you if you want it, it automatically merges with Internet Explorer. It does ask if you want to make it you home page on Internet Explorer. I said no. I use google and like it. But my server in conjunct with google is my home page on the internet.

Now here within lies the problem. When you get the google home page it adds another bar at the top with lots of buttons. Those buttons can cause problems. I had to turn two of them off. They did not interact with Microsoft Internet Explorer well. I kept getting error messages while on the internet explorer. When I got one of the error boxes, there was an Advance box. I went to the Advance box by clicking on it. And I had to uncheck two buttons. It's been working fine since.
