Guest guest
, I have been nebulizing moderate amounts of sodium cromoglycate for several years with pretty good success and you will find a couple of posts in the archive on this. I believe Wayne has also tried it. It may or may not totally replace steroids but will certainly help lower their dosage. Also, it takes a couple of weeks to work fully and after some time I found out I could reduce the dosage. Based on my experience, high dosages may have neurological effects and long-term use may have cardiological effects, reversed by lowering dosage ; the literature says it has a good safety profile, probably better than steroids though less powerful - a trade-off. > > Has anyone had any luck using Cromolyn Sodium? I am using nasalcrom and feel like it is reducing sinus symptoms ( less mucus, clear). Could it replace nasal steriods in Samters? I tried to fill a perscription for nebulized CS but their is a shortage and Teva says it won't be avalible until June. Inhailed could it be more effective than steroids in samters? >
Guest guest
After one of my polypectomies I tried using Cromolyn nasal spray in hopes that it would have a positive effect on the Mast cells in my sinuses and minimize polyp regrowth. I used it for about a year and it had no effect in slowing polyp regrowth. When you study Cromolyn one would think that it might help, but I think that my problem was bio-film and I couldn't find any research showing that Cromolyn had any effect on bio-film. Cromolyn Sodium? Has anyone had any luck using Cromolyn Sodium? I am using nasalcrom and feel like it is reducing sinus symptoms ( less mucus, clear). Could it replace nasal steriods in Samters? Guest guest
Cromolyn has to be thought of as a drug that is a little anti-inflammatory, less so than corticosteroids, but also with less side effects. It is not an antibacterial and will not do anything to biofilms. It still should have provided some help against polyp regrowth if directly sprayed on them at a sufficient dosage ; why it did not in your case, I have no idea. > > > After one of my polypectomies I tried using Cromolyn nasal spray in hopes > that it would have a positive effect on the Mast cells in my sinuses and > minimize polyp regrowth. Guest guest
My treatment right now for post surgery is a 's solution. It contains 1% baby shampoo and helps to wash away the biofilm. Can't say if it's working or not since I've only been on it 2 weeks now. Bummer.. I have to go back to work tomorrow and I don't feel good enough to. 2 weeks isn't enough recovery time for an old fart.... Guest guest
What do you mean by long term cardiological and neurological effects? And is there really a shortage have you been able to find it? > > > > Has anyone had any luck using Cromolyn Sodium? Guest guest
Sodium cromoglycate is still available in France under the Lomudal brand. Neurological : high doses may modify dreams/state of consciousness during sleep, but that would be on a much more benign scale than Singulair. Cardiological : I should have said vascular or muscular instead ; long-term use may give some kind of strange muscular or vascular feeling, like very faint restless leg syndrome. Anyway, this disappeared on lower doses. > > > > > > Has anyone had any luck using Cromolyn Sodium? I am using nasalcrom > and feel like it is reducing sinus symptoms ( less mucus, clear). Guest guest
Asfyso, How often do you take it nebulized? Do you also take it nasally? And how often> > >> > Has anyone had any luck using Cromolyn Sodium? I am using nasalcrom and feel like it is reducing sinus symptoms ( less mucus, clear). Could it replace nasal steriods in Samters?
