One of the really good features for those who fry is that it has a really high smoke point--therefore does not burn--something that makes oils into killers. Wiki covers it pretty good--but I'm sure there are more health benefits than described here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grape_seed_oilTonya <copperandwater@...> wrote: What are the benefits of grape seed oil, and what would be the best way to take it? peace , tonya' ----- Original Message ----From: Bea Bernhausen <beabernhausen >Herbal_Connection Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 11:50:16 PMSubject: [Herbal_Connection] DR. Hi

I just joined...

I have only seen grape seed oil to use on skin, I

heard that it has antioxidants too. I hadnt realized

that you can cook with it, that is great news..

I use for cooking mostly, coconut oil, called Nutiva,

organic extra virgin...I have been using this for a

few yrs now, tastes really good on stir frying vegies

and a great oil for frying as it also doesnt burn as

you mentioned about grape seed oil...

Coconut oil contains medium chain good fats with 50%

lauric acid, is cholestrol free

yes, it's expensive..about $13 and some change for a

large size..what's nice its that it last a long time

because its in solid form, and I dont fry a whole

lot..I also use olive oil for salad dressings and

foods that I want to have a lighter flavor..

Also I like to use coconut oil as a base for suntan

oil, I use it with almond oil, sesame oil and olive

oil, I keep it in my fridge and when I put it on its

cool to the skin...

Boy that's cheap for coconut---is it extra virgin? Up in Canada I pay about 16 (US) for less than a quart--its organic--but not extra virgin. On the other hand i have a cheap place for grape seed oil--4(US) for about a quart. It's great for a light taste---though I mostly use olive for salads. Hi Bea,

yes, it's extra virgin coconut oil..I get it at a

store here in oregon that has health foods at a

cheaper price than most.

dr mercola

http://www.mercola.com/forms/coconut_oil.htm

he is the doc that introduced me to using coconut oil

after reading what he had to say about it. although I

think that he promoted " nutiva brand " extra virgin a

few yrs back on his site but now its another brand..

here's some more info on coconut oil

http://www.mercola.com/2003/sep/13/coconut_oil.htm

I am gonna check out the grape seed oil at this store

too, and see what the price is for cooking..I have

some for the skin, and its almost out..

Oh my god---a difference of day and night---canola kills--and is 99% likely to be GMO (even organic) anyway---coconut (virgin or extra virgin) heals (as long as it isn't chemically extracte)--its the best! Tell him to do some checkin. Chuck the canola---its not even a natural oil--came from rapeseed what they used to use for lubricating engines!!!Sherrie Adkins <mthawk2@...> wrote: I think I'll go get some more coconut oil. He's finally gone and I can use what ever I want! Practically as soon

as he drove off, I went through and threw out the canola and the corn

oil. I'm cooking with olive oil now.

well thanks to you all here mentioning grapeseed oil,

I got some..it was about $7 at my store for a

25.4oz...and I just used it on my husbands scrambled

eggs, no complaints...we tasted it, its a bit of a

nutty flavor..I read it is good for skin too helps

repair it and replenishes too...

So thank you for your input...

Great group glad I joined!

MicheLe

Ps in baking I use safflower oil, if the receipe

doesnt call for butter or coconut...what do you think,

I am talking about cakes..
