Eugen Sandow, the first modern bodybuilder and the model for the Mr.

Olympia trophy, supposedly died after dragging his car out of a

ditch:

Sadly, Sandow died in 1925 in London, as a result of a burst blood

vessel in his brain, most probably brought on from lifting an

automobile from a ditch after an accident.

As I understand it though, he probably really died of a fairly

mundane fever but he (and his estate) wanted to keep the legend

alive.

More recently, in the late 60's, Dave Draper, the " blond bomber " ,

held a car up to fix a flat:

I recall, for example him telling me how he and Reg Park were driving

along outside Johannesburg when suddenly the vehicle had a flat. Lo!

And behold, whereas they had got a spare tire, there was no jack to

lift up the car and… you've guessed it. Both Reg and Dave took turns

holding up the vehicle, manually. Amazed onlookers gaped in

disbelief.

Apple blossoms in April mean a good apple crop.

African marigolds will ward off blackfly & other insects.

Darling pea & lily have the power to bind someone in place.

Foxglove (fairy plant) in the house or on a ship are unlucky;

and if picked, the Faeries will be offended and bring bad luck to

whomever picked it.

Honeysuckle brings bad luck if brought into the home.

Lilac worn around the neck to protect against drunkenness.

Lily is the ultimate fertility symbol & also a symbol of death.

Primrose, if kept indoors, will bring sickness and sorrow.

Roses are the symbol of love and desire.
