Guest guest
Excellent comment. I learned about fifteen years ago that I needed a diagnosis/treatment ENT and secondly an ENT Cutter. - Different skills are requited by each and the Cutter gets paid a lot more. Guest guest
Hello, that sounds very much like my experience too. Had polyps out about 2 years ago, then desens a few months back, but it feels like they're back again! Starts to sound like a horror film. Know just how you feel......really don't want to go through that again! Have had 10 ops over the 19 years and have had enough now! What is RUSH immunotherapy? I haven't heard that before? Good Luck with your treatment. > > Saw the ENT this week. He said I have more polyps on the left side growing. Since I de-sens'd 8/12/11 I do have more 'open' passages than before so I did not take his news so well. Hmmmm. > > He was not so interested in the Naso-Neb ?'s I had and pushed it off on my Allergist. =/ He was not going to offer much other than possibility of surgery. She wants me to take 650 mg 3 times a day. She warned to watch for 'the signs' and to stop the 3rd dose if I get any of them. (extreme bruising/ulcer/ringing in the ears) It is her hope that I will get the polyps down and possibly some SOS with the budesonide rinses w/saline and increased aspirin. She said there is a chance I may end up having surgery to start with a 'clean slate'. > > I am not sure how I feel about that. Surgery. ugh. =/ > > >
Guest guest
Yeah. Surgery. Ugh. I am going to hold off a while longer, it can't hurt to let aspirin do it's thing for 6 months or so. RUSH immunotherapy is basically allergy shots given in a very short amount of time vs taking up to one year to reach maintenance. It is sort of like the aspirin de-sensitizing. In a four week period, I will have had up to 4-6 months worth of shots. The only reason my body is able to withstand this right now is because I am on Xolair and now aspirin desens'd. I tried the typical allergy shots twice in my past and twice now, things have come up (move from area and polyp surgery) and all the time/money/expense of getting it done flushed down the toilet. Once you miss over a period of time, you go back to square one and start over. My hope is that in time, all of the steps we are taking (my allergist and I) will come together and my polyps will shrink. I am following restrictive diet (low sals, gluten/wheat/corn/sugar free) at this time as well. If 6 months from now the polyps are still here, I honestly do not know what else I can do. Naso Neb? Hope things work out for you as well without another surgery. Hang in there!
Guest guest
, Stick with the low salicylate diet but also look at what products & ingredients (ie. mint flavoured toothpaste) which contains salicylates. Try to avoid them as well. For women, fragrances and perfumes, cosmetics such as lipsticks, lotions, and skin clansers may contain salicylates. Avoid aritficial food coloring and flavoring, Benzoates (found in Sprite, 7-UP, etc), menthol, mint, peppermint, spearmint, etc. I found that strong mint flavored toothpastes would cause me to cough and wheeze. I switched brands and have no issues. I have tried to avoid salicylates in foods, products, and ingredients, and have now been off Singulair for over 2 years. Another thing to be careful of are certain juices. Some of them can make you react almost as badly as a glass of wine. I am just using Rhinocort Aqua nasal spray (shrinks polyps) before bed and have had my SOS back for an incredible 2 weeks! I now barely ever use my inhaler providing I avoid high salicylate foods and products containing sals. Oh how I miss drinking a glass of red wine with my Saturday night steak! A Coors Light seems to fill in for now ;^) Here is a good link for you re: Salicylates in products and ingredients http://www.webmd.com/allergies/guide/salicylate-allergy ...... but even better, I would read this whole webpage: http://www.sixwise.com/newsletters/06/02/08/what-are-salicylates-could-salicylat\ es-be-zapping-your-energy-and-making-you-feel-ill.htm Best of luck! > > Yeah.
