Guest guest
Thanks for your input.. he goes back to the aspirin doc on friday to consider lowering his dose to 650mg.. we'll ask again about the omega 3 issue.. but i recall the doc telling him to avoid it... From what I understand the best source of Omega 6 is from Borage Oil.. and Omega 3 from Fish Oils & DHA Seems that we (as a society in whole) ingest omega 6 and omega 3 at a 25-50:1 ratio (respectively).. where it should be a 2:1 ratio. Reading claims that this imbalance is the root of all inflammation evil... Snake oil? Perhaps.. but we'll try anything, right?? > > > My boyfriend successfully completed his aspirin desens.. 3 months, no polyps. He is on a regimen of 1325mg asprin, zyflo, topical nasal steroid and rinse. All seems to be working well.. HOWEVER.. > > > > He is also dealing with other health issues that I think could all somehow be related. In addition to the AERD meds.. he is on medication for diabetes type II, high blood pressure.. and he is also now suffering from arthritis in the knees as well as psoriasis... > > > > I've been reading up on the biolgic processes that cause inflamation.. and they all seem to be pointing to a breakdown in the metabolism of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids (or lack thereof)... the D6d enzymes are not being produced in order to synthesise the fatty acids.. ?? resulting in decreased prostaglandins, leading to leukocyte production.. leading to inflamation of all sorts... something like that.. > > > > All of the disease that he suffers from point back to fatty acid imbalance.. Asthma, Diabetes, HBP, Arthritis, Psoriasis.. AND AERD are ALL infamatory disease. > > > > He has been off the prednisone since December.. with no recurrence of polyps.. and that's good.. But now I'd like to get him off of the Metformin (diabetes) and the Diovan (HBP) as well.. I think that with the proper nutrients and/or suppliments (and diet and excercise) that we can control his " diabetes " and high blood pressure as well as control the pain/inflamation of the arthritis and psoriasis.. > > > > Apparently, a proper balance of omega 3 and omega 6 can help regulate the inflammotory processes throughout the body thereby reducing the symptoms of all the diseases I mentioned.. > > > > BUT.. I have read that people on asprin regimen should avoid Omega 3 as it has blood thinning properties and the risk of bleeding and internal bleeding is elevated... > > > > Is anyone out here taking asprin with omega 3 safely? We would really liek to reach a more natural approach to his health issues.. and who knows?? Maybe erradicate them. > > > > Any input on this subject is welcomed..
