Guest guest
I think you are mistaken about still being desensitized. According to Scripps you lose you desens approximately 48-72 hours after you stop taking ASA. You have been off for nearly a month. Of course the only way to tell would be to take a dose of ASA, which could land you in the ER. Please be very careful with ASA and other COX 1 inhibitors. Guest guest
i am still not taking any pain killers except tylenol but i am for sure i am still desens, and my dr says this can happen. i do not have a flare up from things like mint and other salicylate ridden things (like i did before the asa) and when i get muscle tested for asa i test that i am still good with it. i will not take any of course but i am sure i am. apparently people can stay desens for awhile but still have some old symptoms come up. Guest guest
glad to hear your polyps have not come back too big. I would suspect this may take time, but maybe if you are lucky it won't happen. I don't want people to think one can be off aspirin for 3-4 weeks and still be desensitized. This is a dangerous presumption. If it has been more thoroughly tested I would be interested, but otherwise I don't really think one maintains aspirin sensitivity for this long after stopping. Guest guest
I think they have tested this pretty extensively at Scripps. Some of us don't have sensitivity to mint to begin with. I don't know how scientific the muscle testing is, but I suppose I can't disregard it completely. I guess I am just trying to say let's not generalize this to everyone ... not that you were doing so, but I just want to be clear if this is true for you, it still is probably not true for MOST people.
