Guest guest
Deborah: I just spoke to my distributor at the company who makes Grossan Hydropulse. He is extremely knowledgeable fellow who used to work for Waterpick back when they made their own product. We were talking about 'breakdown' of products and the expected life of a Grossan Hydropulse. He was telling me emphatically that the sea salt and the plain salt mixtures like the Neil Med packets are the prime cause of the Grossan breaking down prematurely. He has strong feelings about using the Grossan Irrigating solution designed to go with the Grossan Irrigator which is more of a physiologic Ringers type solution ( and a bit easier on the mucous memebaranes). He also told me has a lot of medical literature on the use of the Grossan Breathe Ease XL solution really assisting the cilia to come back and restore function again where the plain salt and bicarb solutions have no such propensity. I just thought this was a really interesting converstion in light of all of our sinus problems and the fact that we all tend to irrigate with something. I do have to aggree with you about the force of the Grossan. I just got a new one and I don't think there is as much force as the one I have been using for the last four years. I am going to talk to the distributor about that. Carol Intro and rinsing question Hi All:I've been reading this group for about 2 weeks now. Glad to learn the treatment my allergist has me on is very similar to ya'lls.I'm a recent convert to rinsing and have been reading in interest the discussion on the water pik adapter. I've been using the Neilmed bottle. For the most part, my nasal polyps are way way up in my sinuses... it's only about 6-9 months after a prednisone treatment that it get bad enough and low down enough in my sinuses to cause me to breathe through my mouth.Needless to say I'm interested in having the rinse reach all the way up into my upper sinuses... the question is ... is there any significant advantage to the water pik system over the bottle? Has anyone gone from bottle to pik and seen significant benefit in doing so? Or is it merely the case that the pik is easier to deal with than the bottle... but in the final analysis they're both as effective?ThanksMike
Guest guest
I did read in the Water Pik literature and maybe somewhere else that you should always run clear water through the Water Pik after you use ANY type of solution besides plain water in it. I think this would make a big difference in extending the life of the product, whether it is Grossan or Water Pik. I fill up the whole tank with warm to slightly hot water and run it through, as well as soak the nasal adaptor in hot water. Lori
