Omega-6 fatty acids

I found a very helpful web site that explains about omega-6s and why Americans really do NOT need to think about putting them in our diets ... we're supposed to eat one omega-6 portion for every four omega-3s, but most Americans eat 11 to 30 times more omega-6 than omega-3s! So I don't buy any arguments about needing lean red meat or any red meat in our diets, especially because those are the arachidonic acid producing types of omega-6s.

At the link here it is suggested that a Mediterranean diet is the best for balance of omega-3s and 6s. I'm also including a link to info about omega-3s. I think part of the problem in the States is that we eat too many omega-6s to ever counterbalance them with dietary omega-3s.
