Guest guest
Hi , I used to have this reaction to red wine for ages until my most recent surgery when the ENT put me on Nasonex daily. Since then I've been able to enjoy red wine without any side effects at all. I haven't been desensitized against aspirin either. samters From: damianodavid@...Date: Fri, 19 Aug 2011 21:53:04 +0000Subject: Histamine intolerance and Samter's I've noticed when I drink even a moderate amount of beer I get allergy like symptoms (itchy eyes, nose, sinus symptoms). I generally don't get any digestive symptoms. Is this common for people with samter's? Has anyone been diagnosed with Histamine Intolerance. Is this related to samter's or a seperate condition? Guest guest
I've found that it depends on the brand and kind of beer. This is probably based more on allergy or sensitivity to certain contents, like hops, etc. About two Bud-Lite's seems to be the safest for me. Guest guest
I have the same problem. I haven't asked my new allergist about it but hoping that the zyflo he just started me on today will help. I get this reaction with all alcohol but it seems more intense with wine and the next being beer. Ive researched online and this seems to be common with people with Samter's. Vodka is the lowest in salicylic acid through my online researching and I find this still gives me a reaction, but not as severe. I find that if I have been on a recent dose of prednisone to Shrink the polyps that I can drink anything with no reaction at all. has anyone else experienced this or found anything that helps? Thanks! Joanna > > > I've found that it depends on the brand and kind of beer. Guest guest
I’ve always been told by my allergist that this is most likely a sulfite intolerance and is worst with wine and then beer. I don’t always react, it seems fairly random, so I continue to drink beer and wine and simply deal with the extra stuffy nose when it happens! I have found that the antihistamine nasal spray I am using helps a lot with this reaction. K.
