Guest guest
The herb Una De Gato (Uncaria Tomentosa) is one of the most powerful single herbs for most diseases of the bowel. Three thousands grams a day is usually a good basis to start. If taken as a preventative for future polyps it should work quite well. It is a " colon tonic " . Guest guest
Dear Greg, Certainly a risk of colon cancer. My uncle had polyps removed every couple of years, and then eventually developed colon cancer, which killed him at 82. Rectal insufflation will take care of them, and prevent them from becoming cancerous. Best of Health! Guest guest
I think they are considered a precursor. I would take homozon and mgn-3 and be confident I would be safe then. Guest guest
Greg, I had polyps in my sinuses so bad I couldn't breathe through my nose for almost ten years. Once I finally got control of my sinuses I discovered that drinking alcohol regularly played a large part in their growth. When I quit drinking they shrank way back. My point is, polyps don't just grow. They are the body's reaction to something it doesn't like on a regular basis. What might your brother be eating, drinking, or exposed to that might cause them? But, regardless of the cause, ozone and Homozon have both proven effective to protect from colon cancer. Dr. Friebott, who makes Homozon, had colon cancer and saved his own life with it. So, I would expect that if your brother started taking some daily he would not only protect from colon cancer, but would protect himself from a lot of other things too. jim > > > My brother just had a colonoscopy and the doctor removed a couple of polyps for biopsy. Guest guest
Hello Jim, Thanks for input. My brother is a smoker and also regular user of alcohol (not sure how much, but used to be fair amount till he cut back). Also, not much raw foods and lots of cooked red meat. I'll be passing on the info to him from people. I am wondering how receptive he will be to hearing he can do something to prevent problems, and that it's his responsibility. BTW, am awaiting my foot shaker any day. Was shipped Tuesday of last week and still not here. * & #$ postal system. Guest guest
Greg, If he is worried about the possibility of colon cancer from polyps he should understand that all cancers begin with insufficient oxygen. And, alcohol, tobacco & sugar are the three most common oxygen-robbers in most people's lifestyle. Cancer is the result of years of self-abuse. jim Crook wrote: > > Hello Jim, > > Thanks for input. Guest guest
Do you irrigate with saline? That may help clear out any gunk up there. Also, try Muxinex, it will thin out any thick mucus. It may not be polyps but just congestion that you need to get cleared out. I have been having some of the watery discharge lately, I think it is more weather related than anything. It stops once I get a big glob of goo out, which usually only comes out with irrigation. Guest guest
Guaifenesin is not a decongestant. It loosens and thins the mucus. Only if it says D, does it contain a decongestant.Try some Afrin. That works for me. Melinda 29: 11 "For I know the plans I have for you", says the Lord. Guest guest
Since my last polyp surgery(third total) several years ago, my doctor has had me taking 10mg Singulair(two per day at bedtime), two shots of Nasonex per nostril each morning, one pill daily of Loratadine 10mg. Loratadine is the same as Clariden D but much much cheaper(like 365 pills for $25). I use the Kirkland brand. I am checked twice a year and there has been no sign of regrowth. My last two surgeries were 11 months apart. I don't know which medicine is working but the combination seems to be helping considerably. I hope that you can get these removed and find a pill regime that keeps you free of the polyps for a long time. > > I have had bad sinus symptoms for the past 4-6 weeks now. Guest guest
Do you use Loratadine with a decongestant? Loratadine is generic for Clariten. The D means there is a decongestant added in addition to the antihistamine. Glad you have found something that works!! K. Guest guest
, Sorry about that. You are right, what I take is the generic for Claritin, which along with the Singulair, Nasonex, and Asmonex is all that I take. Ron > > > > I have had bad sinus symptoms for the past 4-6 weeks now. Guest guest
Hello fellow sufferers !!!! Has anyone here been able to control nasal polys without the benefit of surgery .... if so please tell me what you did to make them managable ....I have been diagnosed with Samters ... but the most annoying part of this triad for me is the nasal polys ...my asthma is very much in control and rarely presents a problem for me ...how ever I have multiple allergies to just about anything airborn ...it seems when my allergies act up the nasal polyps present themselves .... so far the only thing that helps shrink the polyps is Prednisone ... I know using prednisone is not a good thing ... and am looking for an alternative ... I also take singulair, clariton and fluticasone nasal spray on a daily basis ... any suggestions would be very much appreciated .. Have had and continue to have the other miseries of stuffy/runny nose asthma cough hives depression. I had pneumonia in very beginning of August and because of drugs and for the rest of August was so well no symptoms and a sos!! But alas that lasted a month and i was so grateful for it BUT its gone...back to the symptoms again. I would not recommend Presidone (still cant spell it) as i found after taking it for a year for the misery of the polyps I have had problems with pancreatitus and bone density seems affected. It is a trade off im afraid. Have you tried the diet - it may help. I cannot tolerate alcohol or fruit - i also gave up tea and coffee and i keep mainly to the diet. Good luck with it. We are all different in it. One thing that everyone will tell you on here is to be persistent with the doctors and getting referrals- keep on with it. Are you in UK I am? Stacey Polyps Hello fellow sufferers !!!!Has anyone here been able to control nasal polys without the benefit of surgery ... if so please tell me what you did to make them managable ....I have been diagnosed with Samters ... but the most annoying part of this triad for me is the nasal polys ...my asthma is very much in control and rarely presents a problem for me ...how ever I have multiple allergies to just about anything airborn ...it seems when my allergies act up the nasal polyps present themselves ... so far the only thing that helps shrink the polyps is Prednisone ... I know using prednisone is not a good thing ... and am looking for an alternative ... I also take singulair, clariton and fluticasone nasal spray on a daily basis ... any suggestions would be very much appreciated ..Thanks June
Guest guest
Do you irrigate/flush your sinuses with saline daily? This helps a lot with Samters and allergy symptoms as it helps get gunk out that blowing your nose can’t/won’t get out. Also you could look into an antihistamine nasal spray (I use Astepro) to help with allergy symptoms if flare ups of your allergies affects your polyps. I have found adding the Astepro to my daily oral antihistamine and corticosteroid nasal spray (I use Veramyst) helps keep my nose clear. Good luck! K. I use it twice a day when the polyps are acting up, and once a day when they are quiet. EVery now and then I can skip a day. It's not as good as prednisone, but it has helped me. I haven't had surgery in several years, now. Diane in Florida.
Guest guest
I've been able to retain some sense of smell with careful diet and supplements. I figure if I can smell, the polyps are under control. For diet, I avoid wheat and pretty much anything processed. I try to restrict sugar but that's tough going for a sweet tooth like me, but at least I'm aware of where the sugar is in my diet and am not eating hidden sugar. I also find I am best off avoiding wine as I will be clogged up for days afterwards and red wine is a disaster - hayfever almost immediately. For supplements, I take heaps of vitamin D - 3000 IU in summer, 5000 in Spring and Autumn and up to 8000 in Winter. (Vit D is not really a vitamin but a natural steroid.) It seems to have worked - I've had no colds this year though I did get legionnaires disease of all things but managed to survive that without any antibiotics!! By the time they figured out what I had, I was better. I also take magnesium, selenium and zinc daily. I still have off days when I can't smell but overall since I started this regime I have had significantly less hayfever, can actually smell the baby's dirty nappy most of the time and go through far fewer boxes of tissues. For the asthma, I am under control with seretide. I hope that gives you some ideas. I think it is a matter of experimenting to see what helps but you need to do the experiment long enough for the possible benefits to kick in. > > Hello fellow sufferers !!!! > > Has anyone here been able to control nasal polys without the benefit of surgery ... if so please tell me what you did to make them managable ....I have been diagnosed with Samters ... but the most annoying part of this triad for me is the nasal polys ...my asthma is very much in control and rarely presents a problem for me ...how ever I have multiple allergies to just about anything airborn ...it seems when my allergies act up the nasal polyps present themselves .... so far the only thing that helps shrink the polyps is Prednisone ... Guest guest
> > > Diane - I notice you use Flovent as a nasal spray. That's an interesting concept. I use it as an inhaler now. Do you just blow it into the nostrils? > - in CA , The doctor gave me some of the little black cone-shaped things (technical term LOL!) they use on the end of the scope they look in your ears with, and I squeese it a bit to fit it into the mouthpiece of the Flovent inhaler. I use 2 sprays in each nostril if I'm REALLY bad, 1 spray in each works well for maintanence. When all is going well, I will alternate 1 spray in 1 nostril and the next day, 1 spray in the other one. I have used this for several years now, and it has worked well for me. My ENT said a nipple stretched over the mouthpiece works well, too. I haven't tried that. Hope this helps. I know of one person in this group that said it helped him.
