Dear Martha,

I did the buteyko method course here in Israel four years ago. It was

interesting and when you have an asthma attack (I had asthma but no CFS yet

at the time) it can help control it until you get to medication. But nothing

more than that. I dont know for CFS. I did it for a while for my sinuses and

it helped. A drop. But the people I spoke to who used it told me that in the

long run it doesn't help lung function (for asthma) which means you can put

yourself in a dangerous situation where the inflamation gets worse.

Again I dont know how it works for CFS as I gave up.

I think this is great for people who can breathe through their nose.

I often cannot, but if I can it's not a full breath that goes

through. I've always tried to breathe through my nose when I can, but

it's not always possible unfortunately.

I’ve tried this technique after my

last sinus op. It made a real difference to my asthma, however my polpys

till came back and soon put an end to my Buteyko. I’v been trying

Homeopathy for the past 12 months with some success. I’ve been

given Lemnar Minar for the past 2 months – some positive signs. I’ve

been told after the treatment I will be cured – just have to wait and see.

Has anyone used

Buteyko? I've found out about this method in my browsing

around. It is a breathing technique to

reduce asthma. They say to take

smaller breaths through your nose only to avoid

hyperventilation. I have

wondered if the removal of some of my turbinates

have reduced the

effectiveness of my nose to warm and moisturize

the air I breath. I can't

find any free instruction on the web, yet.

In the mean time I'm keeping my

mouth closed.

Thanks for the reply, Mo,

I’ve been working on it but I not convinced. It is very hard to do during an exasperation and apparently useless when I’m feeling well. The aspirin has kept my polyps away but my asthma flairs up with the slightest provocation.

Please keep us updated, certainly anything that is as dramatic as a

cure would be very helpful to all of us!
