Guest guest
Last month, reported that a course of pizotifen, an anti-histamine and serotonin antagonist (via serotonin receptor blockade) largely improved his sinusitis symptoms. I tend to believe this would have essentially been the result of the anti-histamine effect of pizotifen, but there may also be some relationship between serotonin and some symptoms of sinusitis. For instance, the University of Washington and Forest Labs are conducting a trial on chronic sinusitis sufferers prone to depression to see if escitalopram, an antidepressor increasing serotonin levels, also improves on the sinusitis. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00754793?term=sinusitis+anti-depre\ ssion & rank=1 What is funny is that the U of Washington believes increasing serotonin would be desirable, while 's experience would tend to show that less serotonin might help. One way or the other, this path sounds interesting enough to keep an eye on it. If anyone here is suffering from depression and has been prescribed antidepressors, has it improved sinusitis symptoms at all ?
