Guest guest
I agree with being knowlegeable about herbs before you take them. The strength of them is just as important as the combination. I took Lecithin (1 tablespoon in a glass of orange juice) and had such a bad reaction I thought I would pass out. Dizziness and flushing and light head. I have never taken another herbal remedy and will go to a natureopath if I choose to take any or a good herbalist. Bev rheumatic Herbs . " I heard Schulzel, a master herbalist, say there are no side effects from God's herbs. If you take too much you just throw up. " I think there are some dangers involved in suggesting this. Not all herbs go well together. I think everyone should pay heed to which herbs they are taking and in what combinations. I don't know Mr. Schulzel and I personally wouldn't give .02 for that opinion. (and that's my .02 worth! ) Mark, You're quite right. Taken improperly (or properly - depending on your intent) the plant kingdom is literaly rife with deadly poisons. To infer that because something is herbal there is no *possibility* of trouble is less than candid. It would be more accurate to include the premise that there is no long-term negative effect *IF TAKEN CORRECTLY*. -- Regards, Geoff Crenshaw, ACC ---------------------- Managing Partner ** No Disclaimers ** Captain Cook's Cruise Center ---------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Over 3,000 daily cruise & tour specials > Top 5% of Web Sites http://www.800-800-cruise.com [specials] > Top 100 Travel Sites .. > Top Web Sites for Cruise tips New Zealanders http://www.800-800-cruise.com [tips] USA PH: 800-800-CRUIse PH: 559-636-8413 FAX:559-734-1420 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- geoff@... Guest guest
Renate, I use Evening Primrose oil to help with inflammation from my RA so far it works. I have not had to take any steriods now for months. I take 1800mg a day in two to three divided doses. This is also suppose to help with PMS...but so far no relief from that. I know on the Dr, Phil show he and his wife did a major series on menopause and women's hormonal problems. The black cohash came highly recommended. I know of many others that use it and swear by it. I would get a good herbal and nutritional guide as some herbals to do conflict with many prescription meds. You could also try asking your pharmacist to see if he can go through all your meds and suppliments and make sure there are not conflicts. Its not surprising that your Rheummy is not familair. You primary care doc, GYN or menopause specialist would be very knowledgeable and probably provide you with help in getting relief. I'd like to share with you my experience with hot flashes. My daughter bought me a package with 2 bottles in it from Traders Joes and one bottle was what you mention, black cohosh and the other evening primrose. I took the evening primrose and within a week the hot flashes were gone. I did not take the black cohosh as to me the less I take in the better. I do not like taking pills bit oh well... I also hate giving myself the enbrel injections. I hope you have good success in this area as I have as that is so YULK! So is all else that goes with r/a and fibro and sjogrens syndrome. Truly a challenge and not a pleasant one. God bless you and evryone else in this group. Sincerly and with loving thoughts,always,Marie-PA
Guest guest
echinacea I used to take to support my immune system and melentonin for help sleeping. On the bottle of these 2 herbs says that you are not to take IF you have an auto immune diease. Same with ginseng. My rheumatologist told me. I had been drinking a cup of " tension tamer " herb tea every evening and had to give it up because ginseng is an immune system stimulant. Guest guest
There are Herbs to cure all illness but the FDA and Doctors do not want you to know that. There are herbs to help you sleep and to lower blood pressure. I start my day off with my herbs and I know that they are great for me and some Vitamins your body needs. I have been a Herbalogist for almost 12 years and never regret learning the true healing properites of herbs.
