Guest guest
Hi, Great tips about the spray. I usually just lean over, but think I will try the other and see if it helps even more. I have been having acid reflux and can't figure out what I have done to cause this. I can only narrow it down to foods I shouldn't eat, haven't eaten in a while and it causes this to flare up. (have had hiatus hernia repart and mesh stomach patch) I think I have it narrowed down to oranges/orange juice but am not all that positive, am laying off that anyway. Last night was a terrible burning from back of throat to pit of stomach. This morning it is still with me, but ever so slightly. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm hoping it is going along with foods I shouldn't be eating and not another health issure. I havn't had heart burn or acid reflux in years till this past month. ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
My experience with acid reflux suggests, for me anyways, that the following might trigger it: - spicy foods, - some alcohol, specifically - just overeating, in general, especially close to bed-time. I haven't noticed any particular problem with orange juice, of which I drink a lot. I have had a gastroscopy and some irritation was found. As a result, I have a prescription for Prevacid, and I take it irregularly -- it does work wonders. Mostly though, I find that a dose of Divol or Maalox, whenever I feel it coming on, will do the trick. I had always found it strange that I would wake up at night not knowing which was bothering me more -- the heartburn or the respiratory difficulty; I was thrilled to read an artical in the paper that the former can, in fact, trigger the latter, and I guess that's why its being talked about in this group. I certainly find that keeping the heartburn under control does reduce the incidence of night-time repiratory difficulties. regards, Ken West From: " Konkle " <tmiller@...> Reply-samters Date: Mon, 2 Sep 2002 07:40:47 -0800 (Alaskan Daylight Time) <samters > Subject: Re: acid relux Hi, .. . . snip . . . Guest guest
Ken, Yes I agree about the acid reflux and breathing problems. I had surgery to fix my hiatus hernia and a loose stomach. A thorasic surgeon ended up doing it, but one of the main reasons I was having the surgery was the acid reflux created asthma problems and was found that the acid was in fact going into my lungs. They found my stomach on my left shoulder. So this bit of reflux is the first I have had since then. Must be me eating too close to bedtime did me in. I don't drink anymore cause it all makes my nose run. I bet it was those chocolate covered nuts. Darn, and they tasted so good. I will try the orange juice again when my stomach has settle down. What ever the culprit, it got my full attention. in AK ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
